"Wow, your mood swings are starting now" he held up his hands and looked at me.
What was he talking about then? I looked at him annoyed.
"I'll give you mood swings if you don't tell me where I am right away." I glared at him angrily and took a step towards him. Now I could turn the tables. I walked towards him until I directly stood in front of him and smelled his aftershave and we stared at each other.
"Mhh maybe I'll take a chance," he said softly and came even closer.
"Come on Nick. Stop teasing her and stop flirting with her" said a male voice from the door. I took a step back and crossed my arms again. "Oh come on man York" he waggled his eyebrows and gave me a crooked grin. What was that supposed to mean?
"Nick. Not all women who are from New York are what you imagine them to be"
I was still staring at Nick, but then tore my gaze away and looked at the stranger at the door. And .. I was literally speechless. I could not think clearly. The first thing I noticed about him were his emerald green eyes, shimmering in the light. I had never seen such beautiful eyes. His hair was coppery red and fell tangled over his forehead. My eyes kept wandering. He had prominent cheekbones. His lips were full. I would like to nibble on them. He was broad and muscular. The black leather jacket he was wearing only underscored that even more. Underneath he wore a black shirt and a fine gold chain with a cross dangling from it. His legs were in black holey jeans and black boots. He had his arms crossed across his chest and I could catch a glimpse of his hands. He wore a ring on his left hand and had a tattoo on the back of his hand. A rose in black and white. I had a thing for tattoos and I was really drawn to men like that. He really was incredibly attractive. In fact, he was the handsomest man I had ever seen. I bit my lip involuntarily and literally sucked it in. I got very warm. I was mesmerized by him. that I had ever seen. I bit my lip involuntarily and literally sucked it in. I got very warm. I was mesmerized by him. that I had ever seen. I bit my lip involuntarily and literally sucked it in. I got very warm. I was mesmerized by him.
"My name is Elijah and I'll take you to Kate's now," he said, walking towards me and snapping me out of my thoughts.
"I think the little one is a bit overwhelmed with two guys this handsome." Nick grinned at me and I shook my head to clear my mind.
"You're annoying" I said and picked up my bag that was lying on the bed.
"I already like her" Elijah laughed and punched Nick on the upper arm.
"So. I would now like to know where I am here and why. Can we then?" I asked, looking at the two of them expectantly. I crossed my arms and tapped my foot on the floor.
"Yes, come on." Elijah pointed to the open door and we stepped out into the hallway. Our steps were cushioned by a soft carpet. I looked around. The wall was wood paneled and there were large paintings in gilt frames everywhere. They showed people in incredibly beautiful robes.Women in dresses and updos or wigs.Men in beautifully embroidered uniforms and frock coats. The technique used to paint the pictures was beautiful but old.I stopped and looked at a painting.A woman in a blue one Ball gown with a silver pattern. The paint was already faded and cracked, but that didn't detract from the beauty of the woman. The portrait must be a bit older. Where was I? In an ancient gallery? Old people hung everywhere and it smelled like polished wood and dusty carpet.
"Are you done gaping? Then come now"
Elijah looked at me expectantly, piercing me with his gaze until I was with him.
"You'll have time to stare later. Otherwise we'll be late"
I rolled my eyes and trudged after them annoyed. I couldn't stand this secrecy.
"Don't take him so seriously. He's always a bit grumpy," Nick whispered to me.
Oh. I wouldn't have thought of that. The sun was just rising outside and the warm rays of the sun fell through the tall windows. I caught a glimpse outside. I could see Tower Bridge so I was across town. At least now I knew roughly where I was.
As I followed Nick and Elijah, we passed many locked doors. At the end of the hall we went down a flight of stairs and entered a large entrance hall. Or rather huge entrance hall. Two hundred people could easily fit here. It was almost empty except for a round wooden table that stood in the middle. On it stood a large vase of blood-red roses. Directly above, a large glass chandelier hung from the ceiling refracting the light. Very beautiful. On the other side of the room, another flight of stairs led up, but we passed the wooden table in the center of the hall. For a brief moment I could smell the roses. My heels clicked on the tiled floor, my footsteps echoing off the walls. We headed straight for a double wooden door
"Come in" called a woman's voice and we entered. The center of the room was a large desk made of dark wood with intricate carvings and thus also the eye-catcher. Behind it sat a woman. Her hair was hazelnut brown and streaked with fine gray strands. She got up elegantly and walked around the desk.
"You must be Elizabeth Taylor. I'm Kate." She held out her hand and shook it hesitantly. I didn't feel comfortable with all of this. But I wouldn't let it show.
"Yes, but Beth please." I corrected her and she nodded politely. She pointed to the black leather couch in front of the floor-to-ceiling window that lit up the whole room. I followed her to the sofa and sank into the soft pink cushions.
Kate looked at Elijah and Nick "You can go"
The two nodded and left the room. I looked after them and then back to Kate.
"So why am I here? And why .. why does everyone here know my name? And why did Nick and Elijah kidnap me?" I asked and leaned back and crossed my arms in front of my chest. Slowly someone was able to come up with the language and enlighten me. That only made the whole place even more unsympathetic to me.
"It was my order that they bring you here. I'm sorry you came here like this. After a night of drinking" she winked at me and handed me a glass of water. But I declined. No one here answered my question and I wasn't used to that.
"Why am I here?" I asked again. The other didn't interest me at the moment.
She nodded and leaned back.
"Beth, what I'm about to tell you will be very confusing for you. And you probably won't believe me either until you see it for yourself. You have to listen to me carefully now, Beth. One time ahead. Today was for your protection"
I nodded and looked at her. Maybe I finally got the explanation I wanted.
"Beth, do you believe in fairy tales? Of stories? Mythical creatures and the supernatural?" she asked and looked at me. What was that supposed to mean now?
"No"
"Well, if I tell you that all of this is real? Witches, werewolves, vampires, elves, mermaids, sirens, that these creatures exist? To start over" she stood up and began pacing the room.
“For thousands of years there has been a war between heaven and hell. Do you remember the history of human origins? God created the world and people. All life shaped, but it was precisely the people who were his protégés and his great love. Lucifer, one of his archangels, did not agree to create such a vulnerable and imperfect race. But God fell in love with man. Lucifer was overcome by jealousy, because for him only angels were perfect and fit to populate the world. And he didn't want to stand in the shadows any longer. Unnoticed because God is only interested in what he considers to be his creatures and no longer in his own kingdom. He started a rebellion, but God crushed them and banished Lucifer to hell. I was not allowed never going back to heaven, instead he would take responsibility for the bad people when they died. As punishment because he despises her so much. Then he vowed to destroy humanity. He created demon to torment and torture the dead souls of hell. But that wasn't enough for him. Lucifer wanted more, much more. So he not only created demons, but demons in human form as well. Witches, vampires and werewolves to defile humanity. Its beings were evil and programmed to kill and harm. They spread like a disease. If a human is bitten by a vampire or a werewolf, they either transform or die. So not everything from films or series is made up. Witches play a different role. They are supposed to curse people and make their lives hell. In the beginning it all worked really well, but over the millennia everything has changed. Of course, the transformed people have retained their humanity, i.e. feelings and belief in God. Not all, but many. But the original vampires, original werewolves and original witches still roam the world and hunt humans, as well as us. It's thousands. And we track them down and destroy them to rid the world of evil. Not every vampire or werewolf is evil just for killing a human. Resisting the thirst for blood is not easy or controlling yourself. Witches, on the other hand, can practice dark and light magic, so they control what they do and who they are. This institution offers a home to all children without parents. We train them
Kate sits back down on the couch with me and looked at me "Do you have any questions?"
"Questions? are you kidding They're telling me a story where they want me to know that all of this is real. witches and all. This is crazy. You're kidding me, aren't you? It's all a bad joke. Why should I believe you?" I asked, looking at her a bit dumbfounded. I couldn't believe any of this and it didn't make any sense to me either. There wasn't anything supernatural. Was there? No. I wasn't going crazy now let do.
"Beth. I understand that all this is confusing for you and it is difficult to understand. But.. let me show you something"
She stretched out her arm and closed her eyes. She flexed her fingers, then stared at her desk. He wobbled and jerked. I watched her spellbound and the table rose from the floor and hovered slightly in the air.
"It's a trick, isn't it?" I jumped up and looked at her. I was losing patience and the situation was overwhelming me. Actually, I was trying to stay strong, but it was too much. Even for me.
"If you don't tell me what you want from me then I'm leaving and I never want to see or hear from you again." I stormed to the door. Kate called my name and I heard the table crash to the floor. I yanked the door open and crashed into Elijah who was standing in front of the door. I was on the verge of tears and just wanted to get out of here "Let me through. Now."
"No, I can't leave you here. You .. need the protection of the school"
"The only thing I need is a taxi to get home. And you also urgently need help with your ramblings about heaven and hell" I yelled and pushed past him, but he grabbed my upper arm.
"I can not. You won't get out of here no matter how hard you try" he said apologetically, but I couldn't see any compassion or honesty in his eyes. He didn't mean his apology honestly.
"So I'm locked up? you are all sick"
My voice turned hysterical. I broke away from him and crossed the entrance hall. Tears poured down my face and sobs hung in my throat. I rushed up the stairs and found the room I woke up in. This was the only place I felt safe at the moment. I slammed the door behind me and threw myself on the bed. My carefully built wall crumbled. I hadn't felt like this in four years. So broken and screwed. What kind of sick house was that and what kind of sick people? I buried my face in my hands and sobbed into the pillow. I shouldn't have come to London. Never. I should have stayed in New York, graduated from college, and worked at my uncle's law firm. Life here was supposed to be a new beginning and here I was. Kidnapped by psychopaths.
