Lex was pick up by her mother after school.She is silent for the whole drive.They arrived in their house in silence.
"Go to the library.." he heard her mother say before he can open the car door. He went straight to the library of there house followed by his mother.
" What happened Son?." she said calmly but sternly.Putting down a piece of paper under the table.Without even looking he know exactly what is it.The list of the rank in school.
"Why did you let a new student surpass you?.." she said again.
She seat in the chair near the wall and gesture him to seat opposite to her.
" I'm sorry ma'am it won't happen again." he said looking at his finger fidgeting.
"will going to change your tutor..it seems like you learn nothing from her.."
He look up at her mother face trying to reason out.This is already his 5th tutor and he kind of get a liking to her.And knowing that her tutor need this job to pay for her tuition in University.
" Mother she has nothing to do with my grades..the new kid is just really smart.."
" You don't need to take pity of her..she didn't do her job well.Its her fault..."
" But mom..she need this job.."
" no more excuses go back to your room.." she said dismissing him.
"do your homework and check again your exam where you made mistake.."
" Yes ma'am.." he said feeling down.
When he leave the room he saw her tutor going her way.Her mother might called her already.
" I'm sorry Ms.."he said apologetically.
Sensing the reason why he feel sorry, the Tutor smile sadly to him.
He go back to his room and seat in his study table.Looking at his exam.He got all perfect score except in his Physics and Math he lose 3 points and two points in the other.Just two points he can't help himself feeling angry.He hear there gate open and he look through his window.He saw her tutor leaving while whipping her tears.He can't stop himself for being angry again and blame himself for making a mistake in the exam.
Lex can't help to look at the list on the Activity Board the next morning when he pass on it in the hallway.He felt again the surge of pain and anger seeing his name on 2nd place.He heav a heavy sighed.
"Dont feel to depress it just a number.."Lex startled to the voice behind him.
And saw Allen standing.Looking into the list to.
" Thats odd. " he look at it closely.
" What's the matter?.." he ask looking at Allen with a confused face and then to the list trying to see what he is talking.
"Interesting.." he said smiling.
Then he look to Lex.
" Let's go class rep's its almost time for the class.." and he walk away followed by the confused class reps.
When they entered the classroom,its already filled with noise of student doing there own thing.Every one is busy and only few can be seen sitting in there chair silently doing some homework or reading a book.Allen sit in his assigned sit he notice the empty seat near his seat.He sigh finally some silence he muttered to himself.When the teacher arrived everyone hurriedly go back to there seat.They give their greeting to Mr Adam.
"Okay guys are you..."
Before he finished his sentence the door swang open and emerge a strong aura of Raven.
"Haven't see you in a long time Mr. Dela Torre?.."
" I supposed Sir, where have you been all this time?."he responded while walking to his chair grinning.
"Well by that..I guest we have some things to discuss after class Mr Dela Torre.."
" sure thing Sir,.." still grinning he said.
Then Mr Adam continue his lecture while Raven sit on his chair after giving Allen a smile but got no response.
" Guys you have to study your notes and do some reading, your finals are coming up don't slack or we will meet again next year."
Everyone responded in unison before Mr Adam leave the room when the bell rang.
" Guys!...there's a fight!...."one student announce rushing to the room.
"King!.." he shouted to Raven who is in his deep slumber the whole time.
Everyone look at the sleeping boy.Troy go near his seat and try to make him up.
" King..! King!.."
Raven wake sleepily and look to Troy.
" Do you have a death wish?.."he ask grumpely.
" There's a fight!.." he said to him totally ignored what he said.
" so?... "without interest he tried to go back to sleep.
"Its Dylan!.."Troy persisted.
Hearing the name Raven stand up and walk to the door.Followed by other student.Every one leave the room except Allen who still bussying himself reading a book.
" Aren't you coming?.." when Liz notice him sitting she go back for him.
" No.."he said without interest.
" You'll miss the fun!.."
And before Allen can protest he was drag by Liz out the room.They go to the place where he think the fight is being held.In the basketball court.The place are already crowded, the gym is big with two division there is upper and lower part.They place on the upper part so he can see the people in the middle.He lean to the railing near the side looking down to the student having some heated argument and one student is already on the ground holding his bleeding nose.While Raven is standing in his front with a serious face looking at the boy in front of him.
"Decided to leave your denn King?.." he said with a sarcastic boy.
"Five versus One aren't you ashamed?.." he said with a cold face.
"And when did you ever concern yourself to my business.."he said with a dark face.
"Just go back to your room Dylan.."
" Not until I finish my business with that boy!.." he pointed angrily to the boy on the floor.
" What did you do?.." without looking he ask the boy on the floor.
" I don't know.." the boy said shakily.
" You stole my girlfriend!..."he shouted trying to rush forward.But stop when Raven look at him and step to cover the boy.
"I didn't do that King!.."he said as he stand up." They been off already" he continue.
"Its because of you!.. where good before you came!.." he said angrily.
Raven with an exasperated look can't really stand this kind of lovey dovey quarrel.His look change from warning to annoyance.
" Can you just settled this thing without a fist?.."he said with annoyance in his voice.
"King, Dylan and I are already finished for a month before I accept Joe,.."a girl explained and come near to the boy with a bleeding nose.
"I will tell whether were finished or not!.." Dylan said angrily.The girl hide at the back off Joe afraid by the look of Dylan.
" Oh! stop being a narcissist Dylan.."
" Just accept it already will you!.." Raven said to Dylan.He glare back at him.
" And you are?.." with a raised eyebrow he ask the girl.
"I'm Cathy.."he said shyly.
" I'm not asking for your name.."
" Huh..Ahh..Im..m Joe' s girlfriend."
He look the girl from head to toe and smirk.Her looks seems like it will not settled a day without a boy beside her.Heavy make up short skirt and a curvaceous body.
He look at the boy in front of him and the boy behind him contemplating what to do to settled there feud.He look around and saw the student around them and make a tsk sound on his tounge .It will just be a minute before the teacher will come here.He can't afford to be in trouble because he promise his dad to graduate this time.And he can't let Dylan to be in trouble too because he has a promise to his brother.
He heav a heavy sighed and look around again.Then he noticed Allen standing in the upper part with a cross arm in his front and leaning in the rail. An idea pop up to his mind.He smiled to Allen that make the other look at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Then let's play on it!.."looking to the two boy.
The two boys look at him with a baffled face.
" Five basket to win five person per team,..who ever make the five shoot will win.
The boy Joe protest because Dylan and his four friend are all part of the basketball team.While he only have two friend and not good in basketball.
"Its only three in my team and they are not good enough.."he whisper to Raven.
"Deal.."Dylan said with a big smile knowing that they will not win against them.
"Chill mate!..I'm on your team.." he whispered to him.
"But were still short of one man.."Raven smile sheepishly and look at Allen.
"Were not! His the fifth one!.."pointing Allen above them.Every student eyes dart at him.
"The new kid!?..."
The gym filled with the whisper of the student looking at him.Waiting for his reaction.He only look at Raven with a cold and annoyed face.
"Allen do you know how to play basketball?.." Liz whisper to him.Everyone still waiting for his answer.Some seems like not even breathing in the tension in the room.Raven looking up with a serious face while Allen looking down with a cold face.You cannot desiper what his thought.
