The following morning, I was to clean the alpha suite. The biggest and best suite in the packhouse. I'd dreaded it because it was Kian's suite. I took my cleaning supplies and stood at the door, debating whether I should knock or go in. Charity, an omega cleaner, had told me Kian left for training earlier, but I didn't know if he was back yet. I knock on the door, but there is no answer. I open and start cleaning the living area. It is a mess, with empty bottles of beers and takeout boxes strewn about. It doesn't look like Kian's suite at all, because for as long as I could remember, Kian had been a clean freak.
When I finish the other rooms, I go to the bedroom. However, I hear a grunt coming from the bed, and I freeze. Slowly, I turn to check out the sound, and to my utter horror, a woman's hair peeks out of the covers, and slowly she sits up, and stretches, her breast exposed. Our eyes lock, and she yelps and covers herself.
"Who are you?!" she asks. Kian too sits up, awoken by her jolt, and his eyes land on me, they widen a little. I feel my vision blur, but I manage to push back the emotions,
"I'm here to clean. I was told you are not in." I hate how fragile my voice sounds. My heart is racing in my chest while his eyes harden.
"Get out," he demands. However, I can't move my legs. Kian, my mate, is in bed with the woman he was hugging in the driveway.
"Is she deaf?" Stella asks, tucking her lustrous hair behind her ear, her face in a sneer. She sniffs the air and then frowns.
"Kian, who is she? She doesn't belong to this pack,"
"She's a nobody," he answers, and the girl smiles, straddling him and kissing him. My chest burns with fire, and I almost double over.
"I had the best night ever, handsome," Stella purrs. The two continue making out, and a pang of jealousy hits me. My wolf howls in pain, and I bolt out of the suite.
I don't make it downstairs when Kian suddenly ambushes me, his hateful gaze is on me, and then to my hand, his face softens.
"What happened to your hand?" he demands, his voice hard and scary.
"Nothing." The hand is now fully healed. I'm just yet to remove the bandage. Plus, it gives me an excuse not to work so much.
"Did someone hurt you again?" he asks.
"No,"
"Then what happened?" he grit his teeth, grabbing my arm, and I wince in pain.
"None of your business, Alpha," I grit, acid lacing my words. "Don't concern yourself with me. I'm a nobody."
Kian is not happy with my response. I'm suddenly backed into a corner, we are close, and my heart is erratic at our proximity.
His chest is vibrating, and his jaw is set.
"Who the f**k hurt you?" his voice drops lower. Dangerous. I draw my mouth in a thin line, ignoring. He suddenly crashes his lips on me, kissing me fiercely. Air is knocked out of my lungs, and I freeze. What is he thinking? We are in such an open space that everyone can see us. I manage to push him away and slap him across the face. I'm still breathless from his savage kiss.
"What the f**k is wrong with you?!" I exclaim, angry. He doesn't want me and is sleeping with another woman in bed, yet he seeks me out in private, demanding to know how I got hurt and then kissing me? Mental!
Seems like sense returns to him because his mouth opens a little, unable to believe he just did that, "I-I... my wolf..." he struggles for words. Kian exhales deeply and traces his finger on my jawline. I feel familiar tingles erupt on my skin. His touch, his proximity to me, isn't good for my wolf or me.
"You're so beautiful, little butterfly," his eyes shine. Does that mean his wolf has taken over again?
"Don't, please," I closed my eyes, fist clenched and breathing in. My core suddenly starts pulsing, and moisture fills my undies.
"You're wet," his voice is amused. Damnit, he can smell my arousal. "By my touch,"
"No." I refute, but it's no use. I squeeze my inner thighs together. I want him to touch me, and I hate myself for that. He was just in bed with another woman!
His eyes darken, "My position as alpha is more important than you." his voice is raw, and his face is void of emotion. My heart can't take it anymore. I tear myself from his touch and turn on my heel.
If I thought my day couldn't get any worse, it had. I feel like a robot, going through life. That was why I was so grateful when Ciera offered to take on my remaining chores after she saw me crying while loading the dishwasher.
I went to the garden, feeling that I could breathe at all. I sit on the white bench, and everything hits me. I let out a gutwrenching scream, and tears flow down my cheeks. I curse the moon goddess for giving me such a fate. After everything I've been through, I thought it was enough, and I had already paid for my father's mistakes. I was supposed to get my happy ending, but I'm still in hell.
I'm sorry that I hurt you, but my position as alpha is more important than you. Those words replay in my head, making me hurt even more than before.
A thrill of the phone makes my body stiffen. I turn my head slowly, and the man I see makes my heart stop for a second.
"Hello," he greets, a charming smile on his handsome face.
