Amelia turned to her husband in a small quiet cabin between the two most ruthless packs in the country in the small limbo part of the territories
her face was pale, she had began labor a few hours prior and was nearing the end. she laid in a make shift straw bed at back of the cabin. covered in a bear pelt as a blanket.
"your almost there Amelia darling. our sweet baby will be with us soon." Alex her husband encouraged her.
Amelia let out a belching scream as another contraction came and she pushed with it. finally the pain was subsided and her husband showed her a darling baby girl. Alex wrapped up the child in a soft knitted wool blanket and hat to keep her warm.
He proceeded to hand his wife the baby. while he would finish up cleaning and mending his wife. He finishes and turns to his lovely family.
Amelia's eyes start to flutter and close, her arms droop and the little girl starts to slide. Alex ran to them moving his little girl to a safer place he starts to try and help his wife.
After several minutes of trying and fighting he howls in sorrow. His mate had passed his, heart began to ache.
crying sounded from the bin at the other side of the room. he never raised a child. Alex had been relying on his wife to know more then him.
15 years later********
"Holly! Dinner." my father yelled.
it was a special night tonight it was my 15th birthday, my dad has a gift from my mom for my 15th birthday, she unfortunately passed when I was born. Dad talks so highly of her I wish I could have met her.
walking into the kitchen I notice my favorite pasta dish displayed on the table. with a lovely arrangement of pansies, my favorite flower.
Dad had spared no expense from our little garden and mill we had going.
"Dad this looks wonderful! I thought that we didn't have enough food for a meal like this so close to winter." my eyes beamed at the table while my dad chuckled.
"for you Holly I make an exception. we just have less pasta for the winter that's all." he said with a wide smile on his face but sadness in his eyes knowing he missed mom.
today unfortunately was a happy and a sad day.
Turing to my father I ask " Dad what was she like?"
I asked every year and he explains every detail, every year. it was our tradition of sorts.
he smiled and remembered his lost love " Your mother was an amazing woman, we met by accident one day, I had been patrolling my territory with a few pack members when something caught my nose. I remember telling the boys I'd be back at the house soon. so they left me to follow my curiosity. I moved into the meeting point between the Silver Claw pack and my pack, the Rough fang pack.
I look to find a young she-wolf no more then 17 at the time, probably ran to hide from the male wolves of her pack since she started looking for a mate, well as Amelia had shared to me at least. She smelt the air around her to see if I was friend or fow. what she found instead was what I found as well, a mate, she may have been 2 years younger then me but she was what I had been waiting for. her wolf was a gorgeous white silver with the darkest of ears, once she shifted back her bright blonde hair shined in the sun set and her delectable delicate tan skin drew me closer, we had never met but I know right then all I wanted was to get to know her."
this was my favorite story my dad told. when I first shifted when I was just a pup I was so confused I had no idea what was happening, dad explained it and he even used some of moms old school notes she managed to pack when she was banished from her pack. Dad tried his best, I could imagine it wasn't easy, but I tried to help him out rather then make things harder.
he turns to me and looks me in the eyes and said " now my pumpkin, my sweet Holly, you need to find your happiness, your other half. I have arranged for you to travel and find your mate."
my jaw drops, what!
we were a Rouge family how the hell did he arrange that when we can't belong to a pack?
he stands and starts to walk to his room. I stay seated frustrated that I don't get a say in any of this.
a few moments later dad returns from his room sadness in his bright amber eyes. he holds out a Silver necklace to me. I swish my long crimson hair out of the way as he places it around my neck.
the chain held a silver pendent shaped like a paw with claws. highlighting the sharp looking claws.
"this my darling, was your mother's Pack necklace, she wasn't banished from her pack as she wanted me to lead you to believe. we ran together we built a farm where we met, where noone would find us. she left knowing her father, Alpha Donald, would never approve of a mate from the Rough fang pack. as they had been fighting since before anyone really remembers." my father clasps the necklace on me as he finishes speaking.
I look up at him and hold the necklace pendent in my finger tips. he speaks up again " go to the Silver fang pack, go to your uncle, the alpha right now, he is getting old and will have to pass the touch. he and his mate have no heirs I've been keeping a close eye on their pack over the years knowing you would need to leave me and find your happiness. I want you to go to the pack and show them this pendent and tell them you do not know your mother or father but this necklace was left with me and is the only clue I have to find my mother. or find what happened to her. you say those things and you will get in with little issue."
he hands me a bag. opening it I notice it's all my stuff. I raise my head looking to protest. but he turns to close his bedroom door.
I look at the mess left on the table from eating my pasta. getting up I start to clean the dishes placing dads left over pasta into a bin and taking it to the cold storage so he can eat later. by the time everything is clean and put away, it was already dark. I go outside to look at the stars. looking up laying upon the ground I inhale deeply the green grass smelt vibrant and cold, winter was coming.
my eyes flutter open, I must have fallen asleep while stargazing last night. looking at the sky it seems to be about late morning early afternoon. Damn it I must have slept in. I rush to the cabin to finish my chores before dad makes lunch. I enter the kitchen and no food was out and dad wasn't at the table.
I knock softly on his bedroom door. "Dad you awake? it's pretty late into the day."
I listen closely no reply came, I listen to see if I can hear his heartbeat on the otherside, I couldn't. panic washed over me I swung open his door and my heart broke.
