"Oh it's wonderful," I said sarcastically. It actually was healing well and it no longer hurt to walk on.
"You can start training again soon if that's the case," Blake said.
"I'm on house arrest," I said.
"We have a gym at home. You can work out there. I'm sure Eli would volunteer to practise sparring with you." Blake smirked when he saw my glare.
"Do not mention that cretins name around me," I said and Blake laughed.
"I'm kinda glad you aren't allowed on missions at the moment, I think you'd personally make Eli the target," Blake chuckled.
"Don't give me ideas," I murmured.
"I have a session with some of the new recruits while you have your counselling so when you're done meet me in the training room on the second floor," Blake said as he slowed down for the security gate that guarded the Agency.
"ID," the guard said, leaning out of his hut. Blake flashed his Agency ID card and we were waved through. The gate opened painfully slowly and we started the long drive down a country lane that eventually led to the large bundle of buildings that was the Agency.
Blake parked the car and within a few minutes we were walking through the ground floor of the Agency that had been a hostage situation only a few days ago. Blake escorted me to the counsellors office and I scowled when I read the name on the door. Dr Hayfield.
I hated doctors.
"I'll see you in a bit," Blake said and opened the door and nudged me inside.
The doctor was sitting at his desk. He looked up when I entered and smiled. "Daisy, take a seat," he said warmly and Blake shut the door behind me. I scowled at the doctor and walked over to the sofa, I sat down and crossed my arms over my chest. The doctor was rather young, only mid 30s and he was rather cute, not that I was into guys with that much of an age gap.
"Hello Daisy, I am Doctor Hayfield, but I'd like you to call me James," he said kindly, but I wasn't buying into his act.
He wanted to build up a relationship, gain my trust and then screw me over by messing with my head.
When I didn't say anything he carried on speaking. "I just want to get to know you, Daisy. So I'm just going to ask you some simple questions." I watched him carefully as he picked up a note pad and turned in his chair so he was facing me. He leaned back and rested his foot on his knee.
He seemed awfully relaxed for a doctor.
"Can you confirm that your name is Daisy McCaughlin?" He said and I raised an eyebrow at him.
"You have my file right in front of you. Tell me, Doctor Hayfield, can you confirm that you can read the piece of paper in your hand?" I said.
"Yes or no, please," he said and wrote something down.
"Fine, yes, my name is Daisy McCaughlin," I muttered and tried to catch a glimpse of what he was writing, but sadly my vision wasn't that good to read his small print upside down.
"And you are a member of the Agency?" James continued.
I paused, not wanting to say that I was a member of the Agency, I didn't want to be an assassin. But I was. "Yes."
"You hesitated," James said. "Why?"
"You know why, I'm not going to answer that," I said. "You have my file and I'm pretty sure you know me a lot better than I'm comfortable with."
"I'm trying to help you, Daisy. You'd benefit from this if you cooperate."
"I don't need help. I'm not going to benefit from something I don't want," I snapped.
James didn't seemed fazed as he asked another question. "You ran away, two months ago. Yes?"
"You already know the answer to that so there is no need for me to respond to that question," I shrugged.
"Is it strange to be back?"
"Oh no, I'm having a great time. I wish I never ran in the first place," I said sarcastically and rolled my eyes.
"Why did you run?"
"None of your business," I said sharply and I noticed James writing something else down.
"From what I've been told I heard your most recent mission was pretty rough," James said. "I'd like you to tell me what happened."
"Why?" I exclaimed and bolted up from my seat. "You already know all of this s**t! Why do you need me to tell you what you already know!"
"Daisy, take a deep breath and sit back down," James said calmly. "There's no need to get angry."
"Too f*****g late," I growled.
"Please, Daisy, just take a seat," James said softly and I sighed, dropping back onto the sofa. "It says here that your most recent mission didn't go to plan. Daisy, can you tell me about your target?"
I didn't reply and looked at my nails.
"Your target, Daisy. Jason Creed," James said. "He was a banker suspected of having ties to a terrorist group acting in London-"
"He wasn't suspected," I butted in. "He did have ties. He was a terrorist."
"He had a wife, Anna, she died that night."
"She was also a terrorist," I muttered.
"They had two children. Their daughter, Sophie, and their son, Louis."
I clenched my hands into fists at the mention of their son and James noticed.
"How does it make you feel when I talk about Louis?" James wondered. "Was he there that night?"
"You bloody well know he was there!" I growled and jumped up from the sofa. "f**k this," I muttered and walked towards the door.
"Daisy, please sit back down," James called. "Daisy-"
"Go suffocate yourself!" I yelled and stormed out of the room. I slammed the door loudly behind me and leaned against the door, my heart hammering in my chest. "s**t," I whispered and ran my fingers through my hair. "s**t!" I pushed myself away from the door and made my way to the elevator, going to the second floor and finding Blake in the training room with Max and a bunch of new recruits.
All eyes turned to me when I entered and I noticed the girl I held hostage go pale. Blake frowned at me and my pissed off expression and pulled me off to the side as Max assured the recruits that I wouldn't harm anyone.
"That was quick," he said quietly.
"Yeah well he wasn't much of a talker," I muttered and looked at the ground.
"You're angry," Blake observed and placed his fingers under my chin and titled my head up. "What happened?"
"I've decided I don't like Doctor Hayfield," I said.
"You stormed out," Blake guessed and rolled his eyes. "Of course you did."
"Rob said that I had to go, he never specified how long I had to stay there for," I shrugged.
Blake chuckled and shook his head. "It was my job to get you there, not keep you there so Rob can't be pissed at me for not making you go back."
"I think that's the best thing I've ever heard you say," I said.
"You've got to wait till I finish this session so I can take you home. Just take a seat at the back and don't interrupt," Blake said and I saluted him.
"Yes sir," I muttered and I took a seat at the back of the room as Blake rejoined the session.
Twenty minutes later the door opened and an annoying blonde guy walked in. "I need Daisy," he said and I glared at Eli.
"No you don't," I said.
"What for?" Blake wondered.
"Her dad wants to see her in his office," Eli explained and I sighed, jumping up off the floor and walking out of the room.
Neither Eli or I uttered a word as we rode the elevator to the top floor of the Agency. He was too busy texting and I focused my glare on the doors, hoping they would open as soon as possible.
As soon as they opened both Eli and I went to leave first which resulted in us crashing shoulders.
"Watch it, you d**k," I snapped and pushed him to the side.
"Do you ever get bored of being a complete b***h?" He muttered.
"Do you ever get bored of being a complete asshole?" I hissed and Eli scoffed.
"Original," he said and I glared at him. We reached Rob's office and I barged in rudely.
I kind of wanted to have interrupted him on an important phone call, but it seemed he was expecting us.
"Daisy, Eli, take a seat," he said and we sat down in front of his desk. "How was the counselling, Daisy?" Rob said and I knew by his face that he had been informed of my storming out.
"It was really great. We shared stories, makeup tips and discussed what celebrities we thought were dreamy!" I said enthusiastically and then adopted a blank expression. "How do you think it was, dad?"
"We'll discuss this later," he said, "but I have more important matters to discuss."
"Before you start, does it really have to involve me?" I wondered and looked at Eli. "And him? Together?"
Rob ignored me. "I have a mission for you two."
