Every second before the sun rose felt like an hour. My heart was pounding in my chest and the anxiety that wrapped around my neck like a noose only got worse. Elias sat with me the entire time, trying to assure me that it would be fine, but I couldn’t tell if he was trying to convince me or himself. He was clearly worried. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t have spent the entire morning with me. He didn’t go for his usual training. Instead, he sat at the edge of the bed with me, glancing at his phone every two seconds as if waiting for a message from someone. “We can leave here, you know?” he said after a moment of silence and I turned to him. “Go where? You’re the Alpha.” He chuckled softly. “I didn’t mean the pack as a whole. I meant the pack house. We could move into my home… if you want.
