Resting. That was all I was allowed to do. And yet my mind refused to rest—not when today was the wedding I had begged the gods not to let happen. The wedding no one even bothered to tell me was happening until the last minute. Every scar on my body had a name. Every infection Irwin forced into me was endured with one purpose in mind: to stay close to her. To protect her. Even from the shadows. Even while imprisoned by the twisted rules of that forsaken pack. And still… I wasn’t granted even a conversation. One word. One moment. That was all I had asked. But none of it was allowed. Because Selene had a destiny already written. One she couldn’t steer. One no one could interfere with—not even her. It was all chosen for her. And we were all expected to obey. I let out a quiet breath
