Genevieve's POV
I barely got through the rest of the school day and I was glad when it finally ended. All I wanted was to go home and curl into a ball but I had to go for my part-time job. This was the first time I didn't feel excited going over to Betty's diner. The bus finally stopped and we got down. Only Jade and I had a shift today.
"Are you okay?" Jade asked in a worried tone as we walked in and picked up our uniforms.
"Of course. Why won't I be?" I responded.
"I don't know. You look out of it today. You are moody and aren't your usual self," she said. I forced a smile.
"It's nothing like that. I'm completely fine," I assured her even though I was far from it.
