Meryl didn’t realize she had slept off in the doll’s arms, crying. It was embarrassing but she did feel a lot better. When she woke up, the bed contained her alone. She looked around frantically, hoping the doll was not a dream. Having an ally, although strange, was better than nothing. Heaving a sigh of relief, she soon found the doll standing beside the very window she climbed from. Despite standing and moving towards her, she didn’t budge from her position. Meryl moved closer to see her staring deeply into the night sky. “Do you like stars?” Meryl asked to get her attention. “No.” “Oh…” It seemed awkward to continue the conversation. “I’m sorry, I didn’t realize you were awake.
