It Once Had A Second Wing

"Yuna"!

A thin beam of blue light bounces off of Valentina's chest and is sent flying into the sky. multiple beams of baby blue light hit her and ricochet off in every direction. Flurries of these blasts keep battering her body but do absolutely nothing to harm her whatsoever as she slowly walks towards Shiina with a bloody blade. Something was off about her though, she wasn't looking at Shiina, she was looking at Akai who was standing behind her. His eyes were lifeless and his glare was cold, had Shiina seen him she may have attacked him instead.

"You don't look so good Akai? Are you ok my Darling"? She began tapping her chin with Yuna's kitchen knife as she walked towards the two of them. "Why is my love so scared of me? I won't hurt you darling.", her evil grin changed to disgust and annoyance when she saw Shiina move to protect Akai. "Now just what do you think you're doing dust rag? Get out of my way so I can take my darling away with me".

"What's all this about Valentina? I thought us humans were filthy rats that deserved eternal hellfire?", Kanda stood a few meters away from Valentina with a purple crystal floating in his hand.

"Oh ho ho Kanda-kun, you've got a new toy to let me play with. I'll be sure to make your beat down even more painful this time". Her eyes changed to a Violet color right before she shot towards Kanda leaving a large crack where she stood.

Boom!

Valentina's blade slammed into Kanda's sword releasing a shock wave that shattered the windows of the surrounding houses. Valentina laughed maniacally as she continued throwing crazed slashes towards Kanda who could only defend.

"Damn it she's fast! How the hell do I get a portal opened like this!", Kanda kept being forced backwards as Valentina's onslaught seemed to never end. Sparks flew in every direction and streaks of purple light would flash as Kanda tried to activate his Manu Angeli, he failed every time. Kanda's sword continued to act more like a shield for a few seconds while Shiina charged up her Oni Yari one more time.

"Akai. Get away, I'm gonna use Oni Yari okay". Shiina glared at Akai as she chambered a new battery into her rifle. She popped the energy battery into the modified weapon and switched the safety as she turned back towards Valentina "This one's gonna be loud".

Akai sat there plagued with frustration and confused to the point of stiffness. Akai couldn't force himself to move from behind the cover Shiina had offered him no matter how hard he tired. He wanted to try and he thought of many extravagant ways that he could save the day but never could make himself act. His body was frozen and his legs were stiff as a board.

"Damn, why am just standing here! Why can't I move my legs"! His mind was racing as insults shot through him like bullets.

"Kanda-kun! I'm gonna kill you Kanda-kun! Then your little cousin is next Kanda-kun!", more and more slashes crashed into Kanda, he was totally helpless against the spirit. His eyes were bloodshot from the strain on his body and his body was covered in shallow cuts. Blood covered his left arm from a severe injury

"Can you shut the hell up with this Kanda-kun crap! It's starting to piss me off"! When these words hit his sword it lit up with a purple fire and his eyes adopted a purple color once more.

"Manu Angeli"!

Spikes of purple crystal shot out from the ground below Valentina and Kanda sending them both onto the roof of the Kenshi household. More spikes exploded out of the ground around the house endlessly as Kanda sent a destructive stream of attacks towards Valentina.

"Come one body! Move! Please!", Akai tried to speak but he couldn't. He couldn't move or attack, his body remained immobile. lament changed to exasperation and then into anger towards himself as Akai just sat there, watching as Kanda struggled hopelessly. He watched Shiina fight with her own self while trying to use her rifle and he even watched Valentina snap Yuna's arm like a twig and throw her. He was hopeless and his spirit was slowly being crushed, the hero who ran into a wave of bullets was disappearing while the obsession began to resurface.

Yuna was out cold and getting care from a worn out Mori while Nao was helpless to begin with, she was in 6th grade how is she supposed to help. Shiina couldn't seem to get Oni Yari to charge and Kanda was getting his ass kicked.

"Am I really gonna have to Restart again? But this time was so perfect. Why does it have to be so hard? I should be some crazy strong hero right since I got some random ability? Why can't I help, Why am I so damn useless! Why can't I protect them at all! I just want to help and I can't even do that! What did I do to deserve this bullshit of an ability anyway! All I've ever done is live my life and read Webnovels so why the hell do I have to suffer if I've done nothing wrong"!

Suddenly. A flash of silver light from the corner of Akai's eye caught his attention. "Kanda! Duck and Dash"!

"Huh? I-I missed him? But his eyes should've seen the past"? Valentina stood there dumbfounded after Kanda escaped her signature technique.

"How did he see through it if I couldn't? Ah whatever, not the time to get lost in thought.", Kanda ducked under Valentina's stab and rolled passed her allowing him to regain his footing finally.

Akai stood there just as confused as Valentina when he realized that he saw through her Silver Flash. His body remained stiff for a moment longer until Shiina kicked him in the stomach and told him to snap out of it and do it again. To which he responded with "I don't even know what I just did, I just kinda knew".

She kicks him again, "That's too damn bad Akai, clearly you can see the other side of her flash so do it and help him"! The blue light in her rifle wasn't gaining any power any more and so Akai upon noticing this realized the fight was down to him and Kanda now. He couldn't wrap his head around why someone so flexible and as in shape as Shiina wouldn't help him at close range.

"Kanda! I'm coming just buy some ti-"

Another flash of light exploded over the battlefield but this time it was a dark purple color. It was Kanda with a portal opened behind him and the purple tint to his eyes had returned once again.

"Akai! I can't do this for very long so I need you to listen very clearly".

"I w-what! How are you talking to me from so far"?

"It's telepathy, I linked us earlier but it'll break if I strain it since you didn't consent to it".

"Alright then, tell what I need to know before the link breaks". Akai backed up from the crystal wall around the house.

"I'm gonna use my Void Split to distract her and get some shots in but she isn't gonna be fooled more than maybe twice I'd say. You need to get up here and help me out with that silver flash while Mori and Shiina work on a plan to beat Valentina. Once she blocks my attack I need you to run at her, I know it sounds like suicide but just listen to me. She clearly wants you alive so I'm gonna have to us you as a shield alright, sorry".

"Alright I got it. Wait what about a shi-" the connection broke and Kanda jumped through his portal only to reappear right behind Valentina and land a crushing blow on the back of her had.

"Now! Get up here"!

Kanda's kick sends Valentina stumbling forward as he hits her the back with one of his purple crystals. The crystal shatters upon impact but it tears open a small hole revealing a thin layer of a exo-skeleton like material.

"What the hell is that"!

Right after Kanda says this, Valentina spins around and throws her weapon at the already prepared Kanda.

"Not happening again"!

He opens another portal beneath him and bats the knife through it with his sword only for it to come from another portal that opened up behind Valentina. Valentina, expecting this, reaches over her shoulder and snatches it out of the air right before it hit her.

"So that's how it works. Very interesting Kanda-kun, I didn't expect you to master such a useful Manu Angeli so quickly". Her mouth formed a grin that reached from ear to the next, her eyes lit up like blue flames and her fangs were revealed. This was the spirits true form and her real capabilities. I'm feeling a bit blood thirsty, mind letting me have a sip"? Her hand tensed and claws formed at the tip of her fingers. The hair on her began blowing in the same phantom winds Akai experienced as her hair shortened to her shoulders. "I'm interested to see how good you'll do n-"

"Hey Valentina! I heard you want me alive right, is that right"? Akai stood on the edge of the roof with his hair blowing in the wind and a fist facing towards Valentina.

"What are you doing here Aka. You should run before these anim-"

"Stop it Val, I'm tired of dealing with this. I'm sick of the pain and the suffering, and I'm sure these people are as well. They aren't animals any more than you are ok, if they are animals then we would be straight up war criminals with our abilities. I apparently can't tell people what my ability is or else bad stuff happens, but I can say that I can't stand to use it forever. I also can't stand to watch someone like Mori or Kanda who express genuine compassion and Empathy for those around them die for nothing. They are good people Val and I won't let you continue with this violent rampage of murder and destruction, if you want me then come and get me Val, I will not move a single inch. I refuse to fight you, not again Valentina. It's been made perfectly clear to me just how weak I really am compared to this world. I never could've imagined all this stuff existed and in the last 8 hours of MY life I have learned more than I deserve to understand. I gotta be honest about it as well, it scares the hell out me to just think about all the stuff that could go wrong. And so, after all of that ranting I can finally say, please stop this Val, I don't want this and I don't think you do either".

Akai's hand opened to reveal a a small ring that he wore every day, it was something that he felt naked without but didn't remember when he got it. It had a small blue and gold stone in the center with a gold colored markings going around one side. The other side had turquoise lines like a wave going towards the bottom center. There, the ring had an indent in the shape of a single Angel's wing. This wing was golden almost entirely with a small bit of deep blue at the roots. The ring reflected a red light no matter where on the ring it hit. If you looked at the gem just right you could see what looked like a little stream of water. Valentina stood there, amazed by the beauty of Akai's ring and the mark it had left on his finger.

"Y-you never took it-"

The sound of tearing flesh ripped through the battlefield and a splatter of blood shot out of Valentina's chest. Her pupils returned to their normal size and her hands released the knife in her grasp. The hole in her chest was some sort of gash injury but Akai and Kanda hadn't moved. Blood streamed from Valentina's mouth and nose while her eyes began to roll over.

"Valentina"!

Akai sprinted over to her while he put the back on. During his moments long journey to her a black mark formed just under his eye but disappeared when he reached her at the same time as Kanda.

"Valentina! Damn what the hell happened Kanda"!

"Stop it Akai! I will not allow you to assist her.", Kanda drew his sword on Akai a rose it above Akai.

"What the hell are you doing? You and I could clearly see her coming down from her viole-"

"I will not allow you to assist a monster like her".

Shiina and Mori climbed up to the roof to help the two of them.

Shiina saw the commotion and drew her handgun as well. "I'll shoot both of you if you don't cut this s**t out"! She pointed her handgun at Akai when he pick Valentina up and tried to get her off of the roof. "Don't you dare move with that monster in your ar-"

"You shut your damn mouth Shiina! I want to know why she knows me and I'm sure you do too. Furthermore I wanna know why she loves me". He gritted his teeth and locked eyes with Shiina.

Mori tried to calm everyone down but failed and only made things worse. Now the group was in a total standoff until Akai looked down at Valentina and saw her hand that had an almost identical ring on it. The stone in the center was the exact same and the sides were a match.

"Damn it, I thought so". Akai knelt down and rested her head on his leg. He then tore his shirt off and covered her chest with it similar to the previous loop. "Why am I doing this? She's done so many horrible things to me and I'm trying to save her life? Who the hell do I think I am"?

Kanda stepped towards Akai with fire in his eyes. "I'm not gonna tell you again Akai, I will not let you help her". He brought his sword up to Akai's head but he didn't pay any attention to it. He was staring at something that rested on her chest.

"So. It is part of a two piece set".
