A soft and lovely voice played in Akai's mind as he lie on his new bed, peacefully sleeping on this nice weekend morning. His hair blowing in the wind of his new room, a window left open that needed not be shut. A path to happiness lived within his new residence as well as a path to sorrow and grief, this path was affection and multiple servings of it. Akai hadn't faced any real danger in over 2 months and Japanese winter had begun to subside. Soon, the cherry blossoms would bloom and there he could find some bit of humanity under his father's favorite tree, he could show courage to the girl he loved and even show power to the family he wished to protect.
Akai slowly opened his eyes to reveal a ceiling that he liked to relearn every morning, he loved feeling like it was his first day at the Sora household so he didn't seem like he was out of place there. He woke up from time to time to Amai running in and-
"Ohayou Akai"! A girl with nice green hair flew into the air over Akai's bed shouting in an excited voice to the man laying on the bed.
"Gyaah"! Her body landed perpendicular on Akai's stomach, knocking the wind out of him and causing him to grab his stomach.
Amai: Heh, somebody's skipping a step or two aren't they?
Akai looked down to see that he had pulled her to him when he tried to clench his "stomach". The two of them were only a few centimeters away from each other now ad could feel each other's breath. "I-I wasn't trying to-".
Amai put a finger on his mouth and hushed him as she spoke in an innocent voice. "It's fine with me as long as you're gentle Akai". She had an embarrassed look on her face and blinked her eyes twice as she turned her head away.
Akai: This is the 3rd time you've done this all week Amai.
Amai: oh why do you get so worked up over these things. It's just a bit of-
Akai: Swear to god if you say foreplay.
Amai: Ohhhh, this is why I love you, you know me too well.
Akai looked at her in disturbance as he stated. "Amai".
In a soft tone. "Yes honey".
Akai cringed at her words and spoke as if he had given up resisting her. "It's Monday Amai, you've jumped on me 3 times to wake me up over the past 48 hours".
She turned to him with an evil look and put her hands on his chest as she leaned towards him. "I'll do it again if you keep going on like that". Akai looked at her, with a scared look despite being totally calm.
"Why am I worried? There's a hot girl on my bed and she just confessed to me, for the 8th time this month. The hell am I? Some Slice of Life MC, if anything I'm a chad that reads Re:Zero's w*******l everyday after I wake up. I should be prepared for this anyway, if she really wants to then who am I to say no. Hm hm, I'm totally ready for this". Amai stared at him while he monologued silently to himself.
Amai: Why do you look so worried? I'm not gonna hurt you Akai, I'm just playing with you.
Amai leaned her head on Akai's chest and the two of them held each other for a second. Akai and Amai were indeed in an official relationship as of 3 weeks ago and Amai made sure she didn't wait for anything to happen. Amai was more than in love with Akai, she had followed him from her old school in Okinawa all the way here to Fujikawa High School. She had studied for 6 months straight to pass the entry exams after only having known him for 2 days. She was infatuated with him and even though this may have been unhealthy, she did still genuinely love him as well. A rare occurrence, especially since Akai was aware of this unconditional but also limitless love that she had for him.
Akai put his arms around her and held her next to him as the two of them looked out the 4th story apartment building. The two of them sat there for a while in silence as they held each other closer over time, the sky was a beautiful light cloud cover had formed, making the sky look like something out of a fairy tale of some far away land. Their hands together and Amai's head on Akai's chest the two just sat, for almost an hour in silence. Akai decided he'd break the silence with an announcement.
Akai: I'm gonna help the hunters with a redacted mission next week Amai. They said that they are running low on hunters and they really need my foresight.
Yes, that's right. The hunter's believed Akai had a foresight Manu Angeli and had no idea that he could Reset after dying.
Akai: I don't know if I should go, but if people as powerful as them "need" my help, then It'd be selfish to abandon them.
Amai settled herself with her back on Akai's chest now and her arms up above her head and around Akai's neck. She hugged him and spoke calmly. "Just stay safe for me ok. I couldn't stand it if I lost you".
Again, that feeling of dread that had consumed him and almost made him snap 2 months ago. It had returned for a moment when she spoke, like an invisible hand that reached out to pull at his heart, it grabbed him and let go in an instant. Feeling desperate for comfort, Akai looked down at Amai who was looking back at him. He leaned his head down and kissed her much to her surprise. He kissed her for a few seconds and then moved to get up for the day.
Amai: Akai.
Akai: Hm? Whatcha need?
Amai: Why did you do that?
Akai stood there confused for a moment, he couldn't understand why she asked such a strange question. They looked at each other, both with red faces until Akai spoke truthful words. "I guess it just seemed appropriate. I won't do it again if you don't-"
Amai: No. It's fine, I was actually waiting for you to. It just seemed like a pretty jump from yesterday.
Akai: Oh yeah, that. Sorry about that, I don't know why I was so paranoid yesterday. I guess I was just under the weather a bit.
Amai: Huh? What's that mean?
Akai, again, stood there with a dumbfounded look on his face until he realized that she had lived in Okinawa for her whole life and didn't understand English slang. His dad hailing from the US and working there most months gave him exclusive access to all sorts of terms and especially crude humor as well.
Akai: It just means I wasn't feeling the greatest. I might've eaten something bad or gotten a little too close to the teachers bathroom.
The two of them chuckled a bit and then Amai got up to walk over to Akai. "Why don't we go out somewhere today? Liiiike, why don't we go out to the beach"?
Akai put his hand on his chin and thought hard for a second before he came to a better conclusion. "Why don't we head out to Okinawa? We've got till Tuesday so we might as well"? Akai opened his dresser which happened to be the same one from his old home. From his dresser, Akai grabbed a belt and a black tracksuit with white lines down the side and white string to tighten the waist.
Amai: I don't know. Mom might get mad at me for leaving town.
Akai looked at her with a confused look while he put the track suit top over his pajama shirt. "But. The beach is outside of town too? Wouldn't she be mad if we went there too?", Akai reached into the dresser once again and grabbed a single black glove that he put on his right hand. The fingers stopped at his knuckles and the glove had a white base around his wrist. on going around the center of this white cuff was a thin blue line that changed to indigo in the right lighting.
Amai: Are you really gonna wear your hunting gear to Okinawa?
Akai: What? Not like anyone will no what it's for.
Amai: What about the Rogue Hunters Kanda told us about?
Akai: If we run into any of them then I'll handle them, since I got out of rehab I've been keeping myself in fighting condition. I'll protect you so don't worry.
Amai: Heh, it's not me that I'm worried about Akai. I just couldn't stand it if you got hurt is all, but if you're confident then I guess there's nothing to worry about then.
Akai: Eh, I don't really think they're as bad as Kanda painted em out to be. Not really the most stable person when he told us anyway.
Amai looked at him with a satisfied look and put on a cute face before she walked past and whispered to him. "At least you've gotten over it". When she turned her back however, that cute face turned to a sinister smile of victory. She felt she had beaten whoever she thought she was competing with, Amai had won.
2 hours later. . .
Mori was sitting on her couch drinking a cup of tea and watching anime when she heard someone approaching the Sora residence's front door. The sound coming from behind the door sounded like someone skipping up the stairs towards the door with a little extra sas behind the knock that followed.
Bang! Bang! Bang! She went for another swing. "O-Hai-YOU! I know you're in there-".
Swoosh! The door flew open.
Mori: What do you want Sanae!
Bam!
Mori: Gyaah! Why'd you hit me!
Sanae: Shouldn't have opened the door then Mori.
Mori backed up and plopped back onto the front room couch while she held her left eye that Sanae had violently assaulted when she opened the door.
Sanae: God you're such a crybaby sometimes Mori.
She crossed her arms and took on a snarky look while she turned her head away from Mori. To top things off, with an extra bit of angst, Sanae kicked the door shut causing it to slam closed and blow her hair all around in the following gust of wind. She put her hands on her hips and raised her chin with pride as her blue skirt and lime green dress shirt quivered due to the force. Her scarlet tinted dark brown hair reflected a magnificent shine. She had rather pretty green eyes and an ahoge to compliment her childish clothing.
Sanae: So, where is she?
Mori scratched her head as Sanae's question was lost on her. "Where's who? Who are you here for?", Mori grabbed her tea again and continued to cover her eye. She closed her eyes and sipped a little bit of her tea.
Sanae: W-what? How could you possibly not know why I'm here? I always come here for the same reason.
Mori continued to sip her tea and left her eyes closed.
Sanae: Come on Mori. You know why I'm here. Now where is my little Nao. I know she's here somewhere.
Sanae had become clearly restless and stood there with her back hunched slightly and played with her fingers. She was now looking around as well, paying close attention to the door at the start of the hall.
Mori: You know I'm not going to let you harass Nao again.
Sanae: Hmpf. What is she, your wife?
Mori: Why would I date a girl that's 2 years younger than me. I'm not a lolicon Sanae.
Sanae: Lolicon? When did you learn what a lolicon is.
Mori: I grew up.
Sanae: Oh I get it, you spent a little alone time with Akai didn't you. Bet you two sat there and watched anime instead of having any fun. Pathetic.
Mori sat there with her cup of tea covering her mouth and burning her lips. Her face was so red that you would've thought she had burnt it with her tea. Then she got mad.
Mori: What the hell are you talking about Sanae! Akai's dating my sister, why would we be having alone time together?!
Mori's face was even redder now and she was fidgeting with her hair and cup. Her messing with her cup didn't go well though and she spilled hot tea all over her casual clothes.
Sanae: Oh come one, everybody knows your into older guys Mori.
Mori covered her face in embarrassment and threw one of her manga at Sanae. "Just go bother her already, you win".
Sanae: That's exactly what I thought young Mori-chan. I'll be enjoying myself while you fantasize about your main love interest.
Mori got up and ran into the bathroom to clean herself while Sanae went to terrorize her lovely Nao until she was satisfied.
10 minutes later. . .
Sanae: Ooooh NAO!
Boom! Sanae threw Nao's bedroom door open and stood there with great pride all over her face.
Nao: Oh god. It's back.
Sanae ran over to Nao and tackled her. "Hiya Nao! How's my amazing and lovely little Nao doing"? Sanae and Nao messed around for a bit while Mori cleaned herself and the two love birds discussed their plans for the weekend.
