My new neighbor - a witch

1188 Words
It was a quiet night in the small town of Millfield. The moon was full and the stars were shining brightly in the sky. As I drifted off to sleep, I had a dream that I had a new neighbor - a witch. In my dream, I could see her standing in her front yard, surrounded by a thick mist. Her long black hair was blowing in the wind and her eyes glowed with an eerie green light. She was wearing a black cloak and carrying a wand in her hand. I woke up with a start, feeling like I had been in the presence of something truly evil. The dream was so vivid that it felt like I had actually met this witch, and I couldn't shake the feeling that she was still watching me, even though I was wide awake. The next day, I went about my usual routine, trying to forget about the dream. But as the sun began to set, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread as I walked towards my house. As I approached, I saw that there was a new family moving in next door. I couldn't help but wonder if this was the witch from my dream. For the next few days, I tried to avoid the new neighbor as much as possible. But I couldn't help but notice strange things happening around their house. Every night, I could see flickering candles through the windows, and I heard the sound of chanting coming from inside. One night, I couldn't resist the temptation to take a closer look. I peeked through the window and saw the witch standing in the center of a circle, surrounded by strange symbols and candles. She was muttering incantations under her breath, and I felt a chill run down my spine. I couldn't help but wonder what kind of magic she was practicing, and what she was trying to accomplish. I knew that I had to keep my distance from her, but my curiosity was getting the best of me. One day, I decided to introduce myself to the new neighbors. As I knocked on the door, I couldn't help but feel nervous. What if this was the witch from my dream? What if she knew that I had been spying on her? To my surprise, the woman who answered the door was kind and welcoming. She introduced herself as Sarah, and invited me inside for tea. As we sat in her living room, I couldn't help but feel relieved. She didn't seem like the witch from my dream at all. But as we chatted, I noticed that there was something strange about Sarah. Her eyes seemed to glint in the dim light, and there was an intensity in her gaze that made me feel uncomfortable. Suddenly, I heard a loud crash from upstairs. Sarah jumped up from her seat and hurried towards the sound. I followed her up the stairs and saw that the door to one of the bedrooms was open. Inside, I saw a cauldron bubbling on the floor, surrounded by candles and strange objects. Sarah quickly shut the door and turned to me, her eyes filled with a wild energy. "I'm sorry you had to see that," she said. "I didn't mean to scare you. I'm a practicing witch, and I've been trying to harness the power of the moon to help heal the sick and the suffering." I didn't know what to say. I had always been skeptical about witchcraft, but seeing Sarah's dedication and passion made me question my beliefs. Could there really be magic in this world? Over the next few weeks, I grew closer to Sarah. She taught me about the history of witchcraft, and showed me the different spells and rituals that she used to harness the power of the elements. But as we delved deeper into her practice, I began to notice strange things happening around us. Objects would move on their own, strange noises could be heard in the dead of night, and I would wake up with unexplainable bruises on my body. At first, I tried to dismiss these occurrences as mere coincidences. But as they continued to happen, I couldn't help but wonder if there was something more sinister at play. One day, Sarah invited me to join her for a full moon ritual. I was hesitant at first, but she assured me that it would be a beautiful experience, and that I had nothing to fear. As we gathered in the center of a clearing in the nearby woods, I could feel the energy in the air. The moon was shining bright above us, and the forest was alive with the sound of nocturnal animals. Sarah led the ceremony, calling upon the spirits of the earth, air, fire, and water to bless us with their power. As she spoke, I felt a strange sensation wash over me, like I was being lifted out of my body and transported to another realm. But as the ritual came to a close, I felt a sudden shift in the energy around us. The air grew thick and heavy, and the moon seemed to darken in the sky. I looked around, trying to find the source of this disturbance, when I saw something that made my blood run cold. Standing on the edge of the clearing was a figure cloaked in darkness. It was too far away to see its features, but I could feel its malevolent energy radiating towards us like a black hole. Sarah noticed my fear and turned to look in the direction that I was staring. As she saw the figure, her face went pale with terror. "We have to go," she whispered, grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the edge of the clearing. But as we ran, I could feel the figure's power growing stronger. It was like a gravitational force, pulling us back towards it with every step we took. As we reached the edge of the woods, Sarah stumbled and fell to the ground. I turned to help her up, but as I did, I saw the figure standing only a few feet away from us. It was the witch from my dream, her eyes burning with a green flame. She raised her wand and pointed it towards us, and I knew that we were in grave danger. Suddenly, a beam of light shot out from the end of her wand, enveloping us in a blinding white light. I felt myself being lifted off the ground, like I was being pulled towards the moon. When I opened my eyes, I was back in my bed, drenched in sweat. It was all just a dream, I told myself. But as I looked out the window, I saw the witch standing in the yard next door, her eyes locked on mine. I knew then that my dream was not just a dream. It was a warning, a premonition of the danger that lay ahead. And as long as the witch lived next door, I would never be safe.
