Chapter 13 The river emptied into a massive molten lake swirling with eddies. Charon guided us through the bubbling lava to the Devil’s castle, which sat upon an island in the middle of the lake, its obsidian frame jutting into the sky. Akta once told me the Devil’s castle was the perfect defensive position. There was nothing behind it but sheer rock face, so it kept all of Hell in front of it. With The Gate of Ulthar blocking the way and its unnavigable molten lava lake, the castle could withstand an attack from the gods themselves.
