CHARLIE SCREAMED MISERABLY as Beatrice and Clovis sat and watched me eat. Beatrice had her own soup, but after a couple of bites the novelty of eating wore off and she pushed her bowl to the center of the table. “I know it’s not like what you get on Earth,” Clovis said, “but I hope it’s edible at least. I followed the recipe, but I don’t have the best sniffer anymore.” It wasn’t great stew, but I was already on my third bowl and I didn’t plan to stop any time soon.
