Chapter 15 Akta didn’t talk much as she guided the unicorn and our cart down the dirt road that curved along a serrated mountainside. Its sheer cliffs rose into the tips of Hell’s cavern. I wanted to ask her many questions, but every time I looked over at her she was staring at the horizon in front of us, focused and silent. On the other side of us a molten lake of lava cascaded into the distance. Alongside the road, demons shoveled souls into heaps high enough to rival the size of the mountains. They didn’t take much notice of us, but the damned souls screamed out for us to grant them solace. Their outstretched arms grasped at our cart as we passed. It was weird to think that one day, before long, it would be me in those piles. I hoped it was a long while, but with every damned monster
