I PARKED IN AN EMPTY field on the outskirts of Stubbins, so we could eat our dinner in peace. I liked to lay out in the fields, on the roof of my car, looking up at the stars, and Kimberly humored me, so I wouldn’t have to eat alone.
I hadn’t driven much before I ended up in Hell to rescue Kimberly, but I started loving it when I got back. While Mama was alive it was all zoom zoom all day every day, but things with Kimberly were different. Kimberly had school, and soccer practice, and a hundred things that didn’t allow me to fly away at a moment’s notice. Besides, after my experience in the bowels of Hell, I had more appreciation for slowing down and enjoying life.
