The longest wait ever :- "Amber.. Listen to me.. you don't need to me desperate. Julia explained, "I know that you are in urgent need of money, but that those not mean that you would take up such a way to get your problems shorted. " Amber felt ridiculed and yelled back at her friend Julia. But I did not find it wrong. Don't you remember what you said about surrogacy the other day? It was you who tried to normalise the concept of surrogacy before me. Didn't you say that it has become one of the most common ways for the only way that I have found to fulfill all the financial needs of my family. Think over this as the way I am processing it Julia." Julia was engaged. She walked swiftly to the writing table and came back, walking towards the bed to yell at her again first off for God's snake I admit that I was the one to make that statement before you, but I didn't say that you go and enrolled in the surrogacy procedure. This is not the right kind of job that you are supposed to ** for. No Amber, you cannot go ahead with this.. please." All this well, Amber was convincing her friend in favour of the step that she had taken but now that Julia was Adamant about not greening to her, Amber fumed with anger when she said, at the height of the pitch, "Why couldn't I do this? I can surpass any limit for my family and nothing has come to my attention except for the fact that my family needs my support." Amber got up from the bed and moved towards the window of her room. She stood there with her hands folded and her eyes filled with anger. Julia scratched her head and wondered,"Is Amour upset with the financial crisis that her family is going through? That her emotions towards her family have compelled her to become a surrogate mother. I would have to handle the matter with care and affection rather than yelling in resentment. If I continued to behave that way, she might get upset with me." Julia walked towards the window where Amber had been standing and placed her hand on her shoulder to come for. Amber please try and understand. This is not a matter of one or two days but you have to lead them a whole year of your life. And have you thought of the justification that you would present to your family? How would you face people? You have almost zero knowledge about how life changes after pregnancy and the most important thing:- Amber, how would you carry on your pregnancy? It would be very difficult on your own. What about your career and law practice? Have you even thought of all these situations?" All the questions that Julia proposed before Amber appeared to be right. All these queries did not arise in her mind. The only thing that had made its home in her head was the money that she would be getting in return for the surrogacy. However, she did not want to stress over misery and humiliation that she would have to go through in order to fulfill the financial demands of her family and get them out of the crisis. Julia , you know me and know the fact that I do not like to travel much and don't need to. Moreover, It is our last semester and by the time the date of delivery approaches, we might have completed our degrees so eventually, this means that I won't have to face anybody in college with the baby birth. And as far as informing my family is concerned, I would tell a lie that I have gotten a job in the city or maybe something like that."Amber defended herself." But Amber, are you even aware of the complications that are involved in a pregnancy? This is the most crucial time for a woman. You would have to pay for regular visits to a gynecologist. You would have to go through numerous tests and induce all the complications on top of that, you would have to deliver the baby and hand it over to somebody else. A surrogacy contact includes a clause starting that the surrogate mother and the child will never cross parts in the future. How would you do it? This isn't easy and it appears to be. Amber, why don't you understand? Julia tried her best to explain things to Amber and convince her to think about her decision. "I do understand your point but this really is a big deal for me, Julia. And I would have to endure pain if I got such an offer. Nothing comes easy and life. And as far as giving the baby to somebody else is concerned, I do not want to have a child at this age. I would like to keep this thoroughly professional and it would not have to do with my personal life. Moreover, I don't think it is going to be difficult for me. I can surely pull it off. From the very first day of the pregnancy, I would make it clear in my heart that I have to give that baby to someone else and I do not process any right over it, Amber expressed. " Oh, Lord... you are not getting my point, darling. I understand that you want to become a surrogate mother. But have you given the thought to what would happen in your personal life after you deliver somebody else's baby? Do you really think any guy would come up with a marriage proposal to you after knowing that you had been a surrogate mother once in your life would any guy expect us his wife after the surrogacy? Julia blurred out, using the typical methods of blackmailing. Amber Smiles at her friends or orthodox reasoning and replies," Julia the fancy words like love, affection, finding the perfect guy and marriage do not exist and the dictionary of my life. If I go ahead with the decision, I cannot think ever marrying anybody. And as of now, my only priority is my family and nothing else." I could not let my friend willingly jump into a deep well that has no escape from it. I won't let you take this drastic step. Please listen to me and withdraw your name, "Julia argued. " Amber did not the argue any further with her friend. She was unable to persuade Julia as to why she had enrolled in the surrogacy procedure. She failed to let her friend understand by surrogacy was so important to her. Julia, I feel... you are my right. Being a surrogate mother is indeed the most complicated job that I was going to ** for. I will call the receptionist for the fertility centre tomorrow and withdraw my application, she said. Julia was relieved that she had successfully managed to convince her best friend to opt out of the procedure of becoming a surrogate. She embraced her in a warm hug and expressed, "Thank God you finally agreed to this. "That's like my girl." Amber could not sleep the whole night and kept pondering over the surgeon think all night. The deeper her thinking became the more difficult it appeared to her. But then the money that she would be getting in return for becoming or surrogate mother over powered off all the complications and humiliation that she would have to endure. And nobody would pay her a hefty amount without any complications attached to the application. She reached the conclusion that if she ever wanted to get her family rid of the financial crisis, she was a bound to take her the risk. She was determined not to withdraw her application checkup. And surprisingly, today she got from the clinical setting that are application had been accepted. As per the procedure she had to fill out another form and thereafter she would have to undergo a medical check hostel. Amber read through the contract that she had drafted once again and tried to understand it at a deeper level but did not find any complications in it. After reading the contract one more time, she finished her work and came out to her hostel. Julia was already waiting for her at the premises. The movement when Julia saw her friend coming towards her she perceived triedness on her face. " This Sharon, your colleague is a useless fellow. She always imprints her work on you and you can't deny it and there is one thing that I don't understand- what urgent work comes around 3 weeks? She expressed her. " How does it matter to me? It might be some thing urgent for her. Leave all that. Could we please head to words the cafeteria? I am starving, "Amber insisted." After their meal both of the girls went back to their room and began preparing for the test the next day. Numerous books and notes were scattered all around the bed. The room was filled with silence until Julia popped up a question, so... Amber..what have you thought about it? " Amber had the habit to putting in the back of a pencil in her mouth well studying. And she was doing the same while reading. Amber was shocked to hear the question that Julia had asked. She quickly drew out the pencil from the mouth and questioned her back, " What are you talking about? "I am talking about the mail that you have received, Julia replied. I would have to do this anyway. I gave it a thought and could not find any other way to meet my financial needs. And I am not that fortunate to win the lottery overnight. Julia listened to her and did not utter a word after that. Both the girls got back to their preparations for the test they had the next day. The next day, Amber and Julia walked out of the college and appeared way more relaxed well discussing their question paper. They went to the hostel's cafeteria and had their meal. They were in Amber's room for a while when Julia felt the urge to sleep and went to her room, bidding good night to her friend who went. After her departure, Amber was checking her phone when she stumbled upon an email from the fertility centre. There was a link attached to it. When Amber tapped on the link, she was directed to an application from that appeared to be the longest she had even seen. It had all the questions regarding her height and weight and it also inquired if she had an allergy. It was also asked if she had suffered an injury before and inquired if she had an allergy. It was also asked if she had suffered an injury before and inquired if she had not and any illnesses like hypertension or high blood pressure. Amber had been filling out of form with utmost concentration, avoiding any kind of mistake. The application form consisted of some questions that made her feel awkward. And those questions were about whether she has even trained a physical relationship with somebody or if she is unmarried. It was also asked if Amber had been pregnant in the past and if yes, did she opt for an abortion? She answered all these questions with a no and it took her almost an hour to fill out the form. She checked the form one last time before she submitted it. After a while, she received another message from the fertility centre to inform her that her application had been received and she would be called to the clinic for a medical checkup in a few days. Amber was restless all this while and she dozed off to sleep pondering over the consequences she would have to bear with.
