Chapter 20

Glynn’s P. O. V

Griffin had the nerve to come here and act like he owned the place. I thought to myself as I headed towards the kitchen. I felt Kelly near me as she handed me a plate, but I was too preoccupied to realize she was talking to me as well. “ What did you say?” I turned to her, she just shook her head. “ I asked if you wanted more bacon than that?” She giggled and I kissed her forehead. “ No Darlin’” as I sat down at the table to eat, my mind on what happened with Griffin.

( Earlier during the meeting)

As I closed the door behind me and my brother stood across from me. “ Well dear brother, how has it been going?” He smirked at me as I sat down on the couch across from his position. “ Well as good to be expected, we still have a few things to clear up with Dr. Scott to get the land approved or disapproved.” As soon as I said that, “ What do you mean disapproved?” As he crossed his arms. “ Well if there is reason so believe that there is an endangered species near by using that land as a habitat, then they could shut the whole thing down.” “ Well let’s hope that there isn’t anything that is then” he smirked. “ I don’t know, it could be possible “ I said as he sat down in the recliner across from me. “ What has gotten into you? Your the one who found the land, pressed me into going in this venture and now you act like your backing out” he said gruffly. “ Well, I just want to weigh our options, and not get into an issue with the EPA” as Griffin glared at me. “ Is this about Kelly?” He asked. “ Why do you say something like that?” “ Well for one, you have been awfully close to her lately and I heard that you got her a condo as well. You banging her?” He clenched his teeth at me. “ it’s none of your business what I do with her, she isn’t yours anyway “ “ Oh well we will see about that. This venture of yours, I’m letting father know of this situation and see how he wants to handle it. Seems like you have conflicting interests now” as I heard a knock on the door and Kelly’s voice followed.

( End of meeting)

After Griffin saw me kiss Kelly I know it reaffirmed his suspicions but I could care less at this point. Kelly was eyeing me and I just picked at my food. If Father got involved, I would never hear the end of it. “ Do you not like it?” As Kelly brought me out of my head.” No it’s not that, let’s go take a walk” as I got up and held out my hand for her to take. I led her outside to the back porch that opened up to the beautiful lake view. As we walked hand in hand near the water, I just kept a slight grip on her. “ What is it?” She asked and I finally told her. “ If this deal goes through , it would be monumental for our company but at the same time I would have you to answer to. Griffin knows about us or at least suspects. I haven’t confirmed it but I told him you weren’t his anyways” as I stopped to turn and look into her beautiful eyes. She looked up at me and I just knew what she was thinking. “ Listen, if it means that much to you, I understand. I’m not going to make you choose between your company and me. We barely know one another, even though I know we have a connection “ she said as a lone tear streamed down her cheek. “ Don’t say that Darling, you mean everything to me. I’m just afraid that my brother is going to go to the board and try to overturn my position as CEO. Believe me, we are close but also very competitive towards one another “. Kelly nodded and then just looked out amongst the lake. I wrapped my arms around her front and held her close to my chest as we both looked out upon the water, deep in our own thoughts.

Kelly’s P.O.V

We headed back to the house, hand in hand silence between us. Henry opened the door and smirked as Rachel came out behind him. “ What are you doing here?” I beamed as she came up to give me a hug. “ Oh you know… spent the night here with my man “ she smirked. “ But I didn’t see you this morning when I made breakfast?” I exclaimed. “ Oh I went home and changed, didn’t want you to see me doing the walk of shame “ as she winked at me and Henry grabbed her close and kissed her head. “ Aww so sweet” I said as Glynn just chuckled and we all went back into the house. “ Henry, we’ve got to figure out how to approach Dr. Scott about this whole EPA issue. Griffin is hell bent on taking my job I guess. He wasn’t too happy about how things were going and we’ve got to get it figured out and soon. “ You’re right, there’s got to be some way.” Henry said as I looked at Rachel and were we thinking of something as well. We brainstormed a couple of ideas but nothing came of it. As I was getting a drink from the fridge, my phone lit up.

Dr. Scott: Would I be able to interest you in joining me for lunch? Mac’s Bar and Grill in an hour? If so I will be waiting at the bar for you.

I showed the text to Glynn and he smirked. “ He must really like you, respond that you will meet him and we will follow behind shortly afterwards. We’ve got to see what is plan of action is now” Glynn said as I agreed and replied back.
