It came as no great surprise that Douglas Harding was entrusted with the responsibility of unofficial tour guide for their day visit to Las Palmas on the Canary Islands. Since a peace deal had been reached on the eleventh, he spent most of his time after work in the company of both Caroline and Emilee—perhaps more time with Caroline. He had little trouble in convincing them that his private tour of the town would by far overshadow the official outing planned by the entertainment group on Her Majesty’s mail liner. As a bonus, if they got lost, he even knew a few Spanish words.
