Emilee received a call from Dr. Peter Jones on April 5. He requested that she meet him at the hospital that same afternoon. He would like to share his plan with her in person. Her husband had been under Dr. Jones’s constant care for the past several months and had met discharge criteria. He was ready to be sent out.
Don’t be alarmed, he reassured her. The hospital team was not considering sending him back to her and Caitlynn and the apartment in Cowley—at least not for the time being. Here the good doctor coughed, as if embarrassed. He explained. The hospital had acquired the services of a new occupational therapist who recommended that Mr. O’Hannigan be sent for convalescence, away from his regular surroundings.
