11The Visage store lit up Fifth Avenue. Silver wires and watch cogs burst through pearlescent oyster shells in the store windows. Golden lizards hugged the turtleneck of a black dress. And a black-and-white-marbled jacket sat beside a faux leather romper. The center window featured the debuting masterpiece: a floor-length black dress that moved like ocean waves even when the wearer stood still. Perdonna’s ateliers had recently developed the technology. Wires ran through the skirt and connected to a minuscule computer at the dress’s back. The technology acted like a nervous system.
