“Come in,” Kai demanded when he heard a firm knock on the wooden door of Alpha Pierce’s office. He had kicked out the current Alpha claiming that it would be better for him to work in, but both the Alpha’s knew there was more to it than that. Then again, who was Pierce to deny the King of his request? He was a fool, but he wasn’t suicidal. Alpha Jatix walked into the room. His Beta followed close behind and shut the door behind them. Kai was surprised to see Jatix with the Beta; he was sure it was the Beta that examined the photograph. Jatix bowed down at the King before taking a seat on the chair opposite him. The Beta stayed by the door to listen for anyone who might have been listening in to the conversation. The Bloodlust pack trusted no one other than themselves and the King. It was why Kai called Jatix in the first place. “Did you find anything?” He asked and shuffled some papers on the desk so he could lean forward on his elbows. “No, Alpha King. When Beta Alarick mind linked me that he couldn’t find anything, I decided to take a look for myself. As we were going over the photograph in my office, I received my very own message.” Alpha jatix stood to his feet and pulled a piece of paper from the inside pocket of his jacket, and placed it in front of his King. It was another photo of the children, but this time another child had been added. Kai recognised the child as the little boy that went missing a few days prior. He flipped the paper to see the same handwriting that was on the other photo. ‘Do you really think the Bloodlust pack can find them?’ Kai crumpled the photo in anger, and he could feel his wolf start to make an appearance. He felt his claws dig into his palms as they formed tight fists. His eyes were closed tightly in an attempt of keeping his wolf at bay. If he was to turn here, he would destroy anything in his path, which included the Alpha sitting opposite him and the Alpha in the room above theirs. Although he wanted nothing more than to rip that man’s throat out with his bare teeth, he had promised a stunning red-eyed beauty to do the honors. He wasn’t about to break his promise to the woman he would one day be calling his mate. The Alpha and Beta knew better than to interrupt Kai from calming himself down. They didn’t want to be ripped to shreds for trying to help. They had learned from experience not to get in the way of the King. After all, there was a reason as to why Kai had the reputation that he did. The King released his fists and let out a rugged breath as he calmed himself down. It wasn’t often that he could do that, but since he met Everlyn, he was finding it easier to control himself. He hadn’t even seen her in almost two weeks, but he was finding himself pining after her even more so than before. That woman sure did know how to leave men wanting more. Much to Alpha Jatix’s dismay, even he found himself admiring her beauty when she was in the room. Not that he would ever think about going there. The King knew what everyone thought about her when she stepped into a room, and he loved it. He was dangling her in front of all these men, and even if she had slept with them, he could sleep happily knowing that his bed was the one that she would be coming back to at the end of the night.
