“Charlotte…..” Bruce snapped as he lifted his hands in an attempt to hit her. “Ohh dear Bruce, you really still want to do this.” “Is everything ok ma'am?” Tristan asked. “Yes, Tristan, everything is perfectly fine. Isn’t it Bruce?” Charlotte walked past Bruce into the apartment. “Charlotte!” “What now, Bruce?” “You think you can talk to me like that?” he snapped. “After everything I’ve done for you?” “Oh please,” she said flatly. “Spare me the speech.” “You’ve been acting really bold since you stepped out of that luxury car, but let me remind you of something you are a nobody.” “Well said, Bruce, but let me update you, I am Mrs Norman, the wife of a billionaire. So it's up to you to conclude if I, Charlotte Norman, am a nobody or an important figure to society.” Bruce was filled with rage as he stared angrily at Charlotte. “You see,” she said, “my life has changed a little since the last time we spoke.” “And Bruce…” “You might want to start getting used to calling me Mrs Norman.” “Why are you here, Charlotte?” Bruce asked as he closed the door behind him. “Can't I visit my apartment?” she asked “Your apartment? Aren't you Mrs Norman?” “Yes, I am glad you remembered that, but do you remember you never paid rent for this apartment?” “This is my house,” Bruce shouted. “But you never paid for it, nor do you have a job to afford to pay the rent.” “You're clearly out of your mind.” “And you’re clearly jobless with nothing to offer.” Charlotte followed up. “Then why did you settle for me all this while?” “Because I loved you, Bruce, but I meant to you, and all you did was take advantage of my love to hurt me in every possible way.” “Save it, Charlotte. You had a taste of my d**k once and wanted me all to yourself you selfish little slut. But how can I blame you when other ladies whom I slept with also wanted me to themselves but still I would come home to you.” “You are nothing but a disgusting animal, I can’t believe I was stuck with you for years.” “Just ask Charlotte and I will let you have a taste of my d**k, and stop wasting time going through corners.” “You are shameless Bruce, I worked double shifts to put food on the table and I never complained, I paid the rent alone without any support from you but I never complained, I paid the taxes all by myself, and I made sure the house was always clean for your return. But how you repaid me was to go around f**king different whores and hitting me like a slave.” “Ohh Charlotte stop it if you ain't going to at least thank me for f**king you really good every day, then I am not interested in listening to your whining.” “So I am whining Bruce?” “Yes, you are and I am sick of it.” “I hate… You, Bruce.” “I have always hated you Charlotte Hayes but I am not ungrateful so I will give you the compliment you deserve.” “What's that?” “Your pu**y tastes really good, Charlotte. Why don't we have s*x for the last time?” “I rue the day I crossed paths with you, Bruce. All you ever did was use me as your s*x doll, you never really cared how I felt or what I was passing through and even right now I'm opening up to you, you still show no remorse, I mean imagine what you are requesting we do.” “Like seriously Bruce, what do you take me for? A slut?” “To be quite honest with you Charlotte, that's what I take you for a slut, what even makes you a special slut, I don't have to pay.” “Well Bruce you had your time, now it's my time to make you regret what you missed.” “Ohh Charlotte you seem to be so forgetful.” “Forgetful?” “Yeah forgetful, or wait a moment aren't you aware someone has been threatening Mr Norman to expose what happened on the night of Jace’s arrival?” “You, it was you.” “Calm down darling, I did what I did for you.” “For me?” “And since when do you address me as darling?” “Since I realised you are my golden ticket out of the trenches.” “You really must be out of your senses if for any reason you feel I am going to upgrade your standard of living.” “Well, Charlotte I really don’t think you have a choice.” “Meaning?” “Meaning I am the reason you are in this position in the first place so by default you owe me Charlotte.” “You must have had something to drink again Bruce, so I'm not surprised to hear such nonsense coming from you.” “You are to say all you want but something is certain you will get me out of these trenches.” “Dream again Bruce and when you are done go get yourself a job rent will be due in a week that should be your concern right now.” “We both know you are the one going to settle that bill.” “Was Bruce, was and you should be ashamed to even say it out loud.” “You b*tch, you know for the first time I was actually happy to see you.” “Ohhh really Bruce? Save it.” “No Charlotte because how can one be so ungrateful to overlook the fact that I am the reason you now drive around town in a freaking Rolls-Royce and yet you want to leave me all alone by myself to be stranded.” “Ohhh Bruce, I guess you would need a job after all I can actually put in a good word for you at the bar so you fill my now vacant position as a bartender.” Bruce looked at Charlotte furiously, like he wanted to beat the living daylights out of her, but he forced himself to remain calm. “Why are you here Charlotte? Or are you here to throw insults at me?” “Nahh I would never stoop that low, I actually came to grab my stuff.” “Just grab your things and leave,” He muttered. Charlotte rolled her eyes and walked past him. Halfway into the room door a strange wave of dizziness washed over her, which made her stop for a moment to hold her head. “What now?” he asked. “Nothing,” Charlotte said quickly. She straightened her posture and tried to keep walking. But the dizziness didn’t go away. “You look terrible,” he said. “Thanks,” Charlotte muttered. Charlotte tried to keep a neutral expression and walked into the bedroom but right before she could walk inside the room she stopped again and this time around she wrapped her hands around her stomach. Bruce noticed the movement. “What’s wrong with you?” he asked. “Nothing,” she said again, though her voice sounded weaker now. “Are you drunk or something?” Bruce asked. “I am not you Bruce.” She said as she suddenly covered her mouth with her hands and rushed into the bathroom. “Charlotte!” Bruce called after her. “What is wrong with you?” he shouted. Her bag was on the living room table Bruce opened it and what he saw left him shocked, the pregnancy test strips she had gotten from the pharmacy on her way. He closed her bags and sat down but this time already fully aware of what was going on with Charlotte. She stepped out of the room wiping her mouth and going straight for her bag. Bruce just stared at her closely without saying a word. She entered the room and closed the door bringing out the pregnancy test from her bag. staring at it while she said to herself “Please don’t let it be that…” she whispered. “Don’t be ridiculous,” she whispered to herself. “It’s probably just stress.” She opened the box and stepped into the bathroom. Charlotte closed her eyes just as she was about to use the test strips. The moment she opened her eyes to see the results. Two pink lines. “No… no… no…” “I’m… pregnant.” “Looks like I’m going to be a father.”
