Macy:
Macy swayed to the beat with Marie facing her doing the same. She was dizzy from the shots, but she was giddy. Macy had never been a drinker. Honestly, she had never had more than a glass of wine. The euphoric feeling, she felt was nice. She could understand why people drank. She smiled at Marie while they danced. Suddenly arms had snaked around Macy’s waist. She was still swaying with the music but tensed when the owner of the arms grazed his front against her backside. Macy froze, uncomfortable with him so close. She started to walk away, but the man put his hand on her thigh. He started to move his hand up and under her dress. Disgust overwhelmed Macy. She pushed him off and quickly left the dance floor.
Ian and Max were seated in a booth enjoying their drinks when Macy walked over. She slid into the booth, leaving room for Marie who had followed her off the dance floor. A waitress came and set two tumblers in front of the ladies. She smiled at the guys and then sauntered off.
“Come on I need to freshen up”, Marie took ahold of Macy’s arm. Macy was slightly aggravated that Marie made her slide back out of the booth but followed her friend. In the restroom, Marie grabbed a towel and wet it to wipe across her neck and cleavage. Macy washed her hands and applied gloss to her lips.
“This has been so much fun. I cannot believe you danced. You should have done this with me sooner”, Marie was on a drunk ramble. Macy smiled at the thought. She was kind of having fun, but not enough to do this again. That was what made them so different from each other. Macy wanted to experience things but not just repeat partying for her life. Now that she had come out with Marie she was glad that she had, but this would never be her regular thing.
Both girls glanced at themselves in the mirror once more before heading back to the booth.
It was close to eleven and the club was filling up. Macy sipped on her drink while she watched the action on the dance floor. Marie and the guys chatted amongst themselves until Marie jumped up excited, “I am ready to dance again, who wants to join me?” Max slid out of the booth from his side and grabbed Marie’s hand. His smile was wide, and as Marie pulled him towards the dance floor he turned to wink at Macy. Ian was still seated in the booth with Macy, but they did not speak.
Macy was uncomfortable around Ian, and she had nothing to talk about. She continued to sip her drink, which was almost empty. She watched Marie and Max dance. When she felt movement beside her, Macy looks up to see Ian had moved closer. Her eyes felt strained as she looked at how close he had gotten to her. She had to tilt her neck to look up at him. “I enjoyed watching you dance. You are incredibly sexy.” He ran his finger from her shoulder to her wrist. His touch on her exposed skin made her queasy. She leaned away.
“What are you hiding from,” Ian smirked.
Macy started to tell him that she could not stand him, but she reined her temper. Her quiet nature overruled her disgust for Ian. Instead, she picked up her drink and took a long swallow. She avoided his eyes by pretending to watch the dance floor. When Ian did not take the hint and back away from her, so Macy excused herself to the restroom. Wobbling she made her way to the door marked ladies. She was really dizzy, and she felt tired suddenly. She did not drink often and tonight she had been sipping something that Marie ordered after their shots. She thought she must be drunker than she realized.
Macy grabbed a paper towel to wet and wiped her face and neck. Then headed back to her table, feeling less dizzy since she wiped herself down. She thought she should order herself some water when she sees a waitress.
****
Macy groaned when she walked out of the bathroom. Ian was still sitting at their booth and Marie was still on the dance floor with Max. This night was not going her way. She had gotten a buzz at first and had enjoyed the dancing, but now she was ready to go. Ian gave her the creeps and he was being extra tonight. He was supposed to be Marie’s boyfriend, but he would not get out of Macy’s personal space.
Sliding back into the booth Macy left a foot of space between her and Ian. He nodded at the space, he knew it was intentional, but he did not care. He wanted Macy. He smiled, but it was not a friendly one. Macy thought he looked suspicious. She picked up her fresh drink. She didn’t want another drink, but her polite nature urged her to not be rude, so she took a few swallows. Ian had ordered her the drink and she didn’t want to deal with the conflict if she turned it down. She decided to have a few sips while she thought of an excuse to leave.
Looking around she tried to avoid Ian, but when she made eye contact with him, he winked across the table. She politely smiled but looked down after. She did not want to be his friend, and she was sure he knew it, so why was he staring? Macy ran her hand through her hair and across her face. She felt like she had something on her to make Ian stare.
Just when Macy was about to ask what Ian was looking at, a body slid into the booth. Macy looked at the man beside her. He smiled and put an arm around her shoulder. “Hello, Beautiful. I was not expecting to see you again so soon”, the man smiled. It was the guy from the hotel bar. She blushed when she remembered her squeak as she crashed into him earlier. He brushed his fingers along her arm and Macy’s breath hitched. She looked at his predatory grin and felt another blush. Someone cleared their throat and Macy looked over to Ian, who looked pissed. She looked down at her hands in her lap. The man from the bar leaned in to whisper in her ear, “come dance”. He did not ask, just pulled her by the hand until they melded together on the dance floor. He swayed with her.
When Macy looked up her breath caught again. He was very handsome. Tall, more than a foot taller than her, and he had dark blue eyes. His dark hair was not black like hers but, in the club, you could barely tell the difference because it was such a dark brown. Macy opened her mouth to ask his name, but before she could a sudden wave of dizziness hit her. She started to walk off the dance floor, but a massive arm snaked around her waist. She was pulled against a solid chest.
Then she felt his breath on her ear, “do not go back to your table he put something in your drink”.
Macy’s eyes shifted up to the strange man. She knew he had been in the bar at the hotel, but she did not actually know him. Although he did look familiar, there was no way she knew some guy from Rome. The people she knew were all from near her, except for Marie of course. She stumbled a little more, but he tightened his arm around her. Things were getting hazy. She wanted to ask him his name but could not even do that because her mind was so fuzzy. He stepped back and adjusted his arm so that it looked like they were walking together in a lover’s embrace.
As they passed the booth where Ian still sat, Marie noticed them. She looked at Macy with a sly smirk and gave her a thumbs up. The man with his arm around Macy smiled back at Marie but did not stop to talk. He headed towards the exit, dragging Macy with him. Outside the club, he handed the valet a ticket. He then moved them to the side of the entrance to wait for his car.
Before the valet came back, Ian rushed out the door, “hey man what do you think you’re doing with my friend?” Macy knew that Ian’s concern was fake. She was struggling to keep her head up and her whole body felt almost limp. She did not know this guy who helped her, but she had no doubt that Ian had tried to drug her.
A surge of anger helped her stand up straight, “where we go is none of your business Ian. I am a grown woman and if I want to leave with someone then I will.” Ian looked at Macy stunned.
The man holding her up laughed. She felt his body shake as the laugh rolled through him. He did not speak to Ian, and before Ian could say anything else a sleek black Jaguar pulled up. The valet jumped out and tossed the keys to the guy holding Macy. Macy needed to get his name, but the energy she wasted talking to Ian seemed to be all she had. Instead, she watched him open the passenger door. He gently set her in the seat and reached across her to secure the seatbelt. He then walked around and climbed into the driver’s seat.
He pulled out into traffic before looking at Macy.
“Is there somewhere I can take you?”
