Back to New Orleans

323 Words
Note: This is just a setting chapter.  I hadn't been in New Orleans since the Civil War. That was back in the height of the city but when things were no longer safe for us in the south at the turn of the war and we left. That was Clarence's decision and back then, I never thought to dispute anything that he said. He was the king and I was just a childe at the time. His queen had just taken her thrown next to him. Ah, Emily was nothing to cross for most people but I enjoyed doing it every chance that I got.  Maybe that made me the rebellious child.  Now that we were back, save for the king and queen, I needed to make sure that they stayed as far away as they could until I had everything that I needed. As the movers unpacked the last of our things into the mansion, as soon as the place went on the market, I snatched it up. 10 million dollars was a small price to pay to relive my history in the town while making new plans for history. The LaLaurie Mansion was now mine and a great deal befitting for the life that we were trying to build.  Rumor had it that what they found was just the start of what really happened behind those walls. Of course it had been refurbished since the days that the biggest social events of the year were held here. On the practical side it was in the right part of the French Quarter and it also had the perfect amount of rooms that had little natural light that shone through the windows. Just the way that we liked it.  Once the movers all left, I looked around. "Welcome home, Angelus." I said to myself. Now that we were back, tomorrow morning would start the real work. The army should be just about ready.
