Chapter 6

Seated on the grass, Li Xiuxian began to meditate, absorbing the spiritual energy from the black soil. Meditating on the grass had a different effect from meditating on the black soil; the former made it easier to gather spiritual energy. It seemed that these grasses could draw out the spiritual energy accumulated in the black soil. Realizing this, Li Xiuxian felt as if he had stumbled upon a new continent. Although the change was minor, for Li Xiuxian, who urgently needed to enhance his strength, even a slight improvement was invaluable. After cultivating fervently for over ten hours, Li Xiuxian's stomach began to protest. Only when his stomach growled did he realize that he had not eaten anything for a day. Although Li Xiuxian was a cultivator, he had not reached the level of fasting. Considering his cultivation situation, Li Xiuxian decided to bring a basket of apples to his room. After consuming a few, he entered the Wanhua Pearl. However, what surprised him was that simply spitting out the apple seeds resulted in an unimaginable event – the seeds germinated, grew into a tree within half an hour, and bore apples. "This land seems to have a nurturing ability!" Li Xiuxian exclaimed, awakening from his astonishment. He hadn't expected the Wanhua Pearl to possess such a capability. To be safe, Li Xiuxian took one apple seed, placed it in his pocket, and, with a thought, left the Wanhua Pearl. The apple tree, however Li Xiuxian spent a full two hours on a swift journey and finally arrived at Qingmu Square City just before dawn. This is the drawback of not having a decent magical weapon. If Li Xiuxian possessed a somewhat respectable magical weapon, even if it were just a low-grade one, with his cultivation at the third level of Qi Condensation, he could have covered the distance of three hundred miles within an hour. Li Xiuxian touched the package on his back, took a deep breath, and stepped into Qingmu Square City. Since it was just dawn, there were only scattered stalls in the market. However, this did not dampen Li Xiuxian's enthusiasm. As he examined each stall one by one, he saw many things he desired. Unfortunately, constrained by his empty purse, he could only look but not buy. A bottle of Qi Gathering Pill unexpectedly cost six spirit stones, and it contained only twelve pills. Each pill was worth half a spirit stone! Faced with such high prices, Li Xiuxian could only shake his head in resignation. At one stall, he also found a large number of talismans. A stack of ten talismans cost fifteen low-grade spirit stones. The market also had sellers offering magical weapons, elixirs—almost anything you could think of, provided you could afford enough spirit stones. After a full tour of the market, Li Xiuxian chose a relatively large shop, its signboard reading "Wanbao Pavilion." The name alone exuded an air of grandeur. Upon entering Wanbao Pavilion, a servant approached Li Xiuxian, saying, "Esteemed guest, what do you require? Wanbao Pavilion has everything you need." Li Xiuxian nodded, "I wish to sell elixirs." The servant nodded, "Certainly, but we only purchase elixirs aged two hundred years or older. If the age is below that, we won't buy them." "Rest assured, the age is more than sufficient," Li Xiuxian assured. "Very well, please go to the second floor. There's a specialist who will examine the elixirs' age," the servant guided Li Xiuxian to the second floor. "Hmph, with your appearance, what good items could you possibly have?" the servant muttered under his breath, turning around as Li Xiuxian ascended. "Esteemed cultivator, are you here to sell elixirs?" an elderly man with slightly graying temples inquired. "I've seen my senior!" Li Xiuxian respectfully bowed to the elder. The elder nodded, "Friend, please take out your elixirs. I shall examine their age." Li Xiuxian hastily retrieved the package on his back and placed two jade boxes from within in front of the elder. The elder, upon opening one of the jade boxes, widened his eyes, then covered the box. "Where did you obtain this elixir?" Li Xiuxian's heart skipped a beat. He realized that selling medicine recklessly might have been too impulsive. If the elder harbored ill intentions, Li Xiuxian, as a cultivator at the mid-third level of Qi Condensation, would be defenseless. However, he couldn't think of a good reason at the moment. "Found it accidentally," Li Xiuxian said, keeping a straight face. "Found it accidentally," the elder repeated, his eyes showing an increasingly eerie expression. "Where did you find it?" the elder continued to inquire. "Why? Do I need to disclose the origin when selling items at Wanbao Pavilion?" Li Xiuxian suddenly coldly retorted. "No, no, no, Wanbao Pavilion has always been open to all. It's just that your item is truly remarkable—a five-hundred-year-old elixir, a rare find these days!" The elder chuckled, then quickly concealed a trace of disdain. "Well then, quickly name your price. If you don't want to sell here, you can go elsewhere!" "Hurry up and name a price; if you won't buy it, I'll go elsewhere!" Li Xiuxian impatiently said. "Friend, don't be hasty. A thousand-year-old elixir like this is a rare treasure. Presumably, the elixir in the other jade box is also five hundred years old. If you sell both together, I offer two thousand low-grade spirit stones!" The elder raised two fingers. "Two thousand spirit stones!" Li Xiuxian exclaimed. "Make it two thousand five hundred!" The elder feared Li Xiuxian might reconsider and immediately increased the offer. Li Xiuxian stared dumbfoundedly at the two jade boxes in his hands. He hadn't expected these elixirs to be so valuable. Although he anticipated a good price for the two Old Mountain Ginseng plants, he hadn't expected it to be this high. In a daze, Li Xiuxian nodded, and the elder's face briefly showed a touch of disdain, which he quickly concealed. "Here are two thousand five hundred low-grade spirit stones; please accept them!" The elder took out a small bag and placed it in front of Li Xiuxian. "Are there really two thousand five hundred spirit stones in this small bag?" Li Xiuxian asked, looking at the bag that was only palm-sized. The elder was stunned. He hadn't expected Li Xiuxian to be unfamiliar with a storage bag. "This is a storage bag. Don't be fooled by its size; it has a volume of several dozen cubic feet. It's more than enough for two thousand five hundred spirit stones!" "There's such a thing? How miraculous! How do you use it?" Li Xiuxian curiously asked. "Open it with your divine sense, then think of the item you want to take out," the elder patiently explained. However, the disdain on his face intensified, though he managed to conceal it well.
