When Bridges found out that Edith was going to the Delhi Racecourse the next day to watch the preliminaries, he calmly said they could go together. But Edith refused without hesitation. "Don't follow me, Master Clark," Edith muttered as she turned her head away, "You've thoroughly offended me today." Bridges had changed out of his riding clothes and into a simple shirt and pants, and with his legs folded, he leaned back on the sofa, his dark eyes glancing at Edith, and said calmly, "Who's going to follow you? Tomorrow's the preliminaries, and of course I'm going to the Delhi Racecourse." Edith nodded expressionlessly, "Tell me a time so I can stagger with you."
