Zara's POV
I remained there, still frozen in shock, as my mom's words hung in the air. But before I could respond, Lucius stepped forward, his eyes locked on my mom.
“I apologize if I've done anything wrong, ma'am.” he said, his voice calm and respectful. “I didn't mean to cause any trouble.”
My mom's expression didn't change, but Lucius didn't seem to expect it to. Instead, he turned to me, his eyes softening.
“I'll give you some space,”he said, his voice low. “But I'll be waiting for you, okay?”
He leaned in, his lips brushing against my cheek in a gentle kiss. I felt a flutter in my chest, and for a moment, everything else faded away.
