Writer's POV
As Lucius walked through the front door, Zara rushed to greet him, throwing her arms around his waist in a tight hug. “Hey, I'm so sorry about what my mom said earlier,” she said, her voice muffled against his chest.
Lucius wrapped his arms around her, holding her close as he tried to reassure her. “It's okay, I'm not angry,” he said, his voice calm and soothing.
But deep down, Lucius was seething. He was still reeling from the news that Dave had shared with him earlier - that Zara's friend Vanessa was the same girl that Dave had been seeing, and that Zara wanted them to have a double date. Lucius's mind was racing with worst-case scenarios, and he was desperately hoping that Zara wouldn't bring up the subject again.
