(Morrigan’s P.O.V)
As we were walking back to the house, a sudden wave of heat washed over me and my skin began to tingle. Suddenly, everything went black, and I felt like I was being shot forward in time.
(Vision)
“There’s seriously a f*****g prophecy about this mutt?! I thought you said there wasn’t anything mentioning a tribrid?!”
“Well, I’m sorry, Calida, but this prophecy was made over a thousand years ago and was one of the last ever made by the Oracle of Alynthi. So, excuse me for not knowing that it existed.”
“This means that everything is going to go to s**t if she mates and marks that f*****g Alpha dog Beatrix! How are we supposed to proceed?!”
“Not my problem. We’ve done our part, now it’s up to you. We have moles all over the kingdom thanks to our foresight fog. Now it’s your job to figure out the next steps in this plan.”
“Fine, what information have you gathered through this fog?”
“King Leonard knows that it’s the dark Fae. Right off the bat, he knew it was you so, so much for being unseen and all that s**t. I told you that the announcement during the feast was a bad idea, but NOOOOOOOOO you and Silas just HAD to go and do that.”
“You’re starting to piss me off, Beatrix.”
“So what else is new, Calida? Anyways, there is an alliance with the Supreme Alpha of Máni so they will have help from the wolves in this war. I haven’t been able to see anything from the Supreme Alpha or Princess Morrigan. Everything is fuzzy when it comes to them. Like the fog didn’t affect them like everyone else.”
“How is that possible?”
“Well, considering she is a tribrid, and the first one in our history, I don’t f*****g know why!”
“Fine, we will prepare to attack the other princess’s wedding day. Everyone will be too caught up in the celebrations to realize what is happening. Prepare your coven and others who are joining us, the attack will be in three weeks.”
“Fine.”
(End of vision)
All of a sudden, I see a light and realize that I’m back in the real world, so to speak, and a man is shining a light in my eyes, causing me to sit bolt upright.
“Holy fuck.” That’s all I can say.
“Baby! Are you okay? What happened?” Rian comes rushing over to me.
“What’s going on?”
“We were walking back to the house when suddenly you just stopped walking and became completely unresponsive to me. Oh, by the way, thank you Dr. Wyatt, but it seems like we are all fine here.” Rian says, looking at the other man in the room.
“Of course, Alpha, Luna.” Dr. Wyatt says with a small bow, and he walks out of the room.
Turning his attention back to me, Rian asks me what it was that happened.
“Well, I think I had a vision. It was of two women, Calida and Beatrix, and they were talking about some type of war or something. Beatrix said that my father knows that it’s the dark Fae that are planning something but that she can’t see anything coming from you and me. Like you and I were completely unaffected by the fog. She called it foresight fog. She stated that there was some prophecy that was like a thousand years old made by an Oracle in Alynthi or something like that. Beatrix told Calida that her part was done when it came to their plan and now it’s Calida and Sila’s turn to take over. Calida said that they are going to attack my sister’s wedding since basically the whole kingdom will be there.” I explain.
“Wow, well it’s a good thing that we are going to Alynthi the day after tomorrow. We can talk to King Cerberus about this prophecy and the Oracle that was mentioned. We need to figure out a way around this fog so we can notify your father and his counsel.” Rian states, and I just nod my head in agreement.
“What time is it?”
“Time for us to change and go to dinner.”
I groan, I really HATE being the center of attention and this is something I REALLY don’t want to do.
“Don’t worry baby, after this, the next thing that you will have to do is the Luna ceremony and that will be in a few days or whenever you want to have it.” He states.
“Okay, well, let’s get ready for dinner. How fancy do I need to dress for this exactly?”
“Nothing too fancy, I would say business casual,” Rian answers.
I walk into our closet, find my pleated bow high-waisted pencil skirt that’s black with blush and white flowers printed on it, and I pair it with a white cotton button-up. I tuck the shirt into the skirt and fold the sleeves up, so they are around my elbows rather than around my wrists. I grab a pair of blush-colored stilettos and head to the bathroom to put some make-up on and do my hair. After applying my make-up, a simple cat eye, and a nude lip, and doing my hair, getting my curls under control, making them look more like beach waves than curls. I toss on my shoes and walk out of the bathroom to see Rian sitting on the bed, looking like a whole damn snack in a black suit with a white button-up.
Mmm, our mate is a whole damn snack.
Yes ma’am he is.
I don’t want to go to dinner, can we skip it like we did breakfast? That wax play was seriously hot.
I don’t think that we can.
Winter pouts in the back of my mind when I hear Rian chuckle.
“Princess, you need to control that wolf of yours. I’m already having difficulty not suspending you from the bed this time and f*****g you seven ways to Sunday. We need to get to dinner.” He says, standing up and taking my hand.
We walked to the packhouse, which looked like a giant castle. It had 200 rooms for single wolves and mated couples who didn’t have children; the top three floors were restricted to the Alpha family, the Beta family, and the Gamma family. Rian chose not to live in the packhouse because he liked his privacy, so his parents remained on the Alpha floor. We walked through the foyer and into the dining hall that was decorated in the pack colors, I think. I should probably ask Rian what the pack’s name and colors were.
“Rian, what’s the pack's name? I know that the packs within the kingdom were named separately, but I don’t know the name of your pack.”
“We are the Cross River pack, and if you hadn’t noticed the decorations are in the pack colors, which are midnight blue, white, and silver. Now let’s get up to the table.”
That’s when I notice that there is a long table at the top of the hall, where Rian’s parents are sitting with Killian and Cormac, and it looks like their respective parents and siblings. We walk up to the table and greet everyone before we turn around and Rian calls for silence.
“Good evening Cross River pack, I am happy to see all of you here this evening. I know that we were supposed to meet this morning, but things came up that needed to be taken care of. So, without further ado, I would like to announce that I have found my mate. The beautiful woman next to me is Princess Morrigan, the youngest daughter of the King and Queen of Eferhile. She is your Luna, and you will treat her with respect like you did my mother. We will be holding her Luna ceremony in a few days along with her initiation into the pack. Thank you all, now let’s eat!”
Rian leans down to kiss my lips, as the pack releases cheers and howls of happiness for their Alpha. The serving staff brought out the dinner, which was a delicious filet steak with apples poached in red wine. It smelled divine.
“So Morrigan, for your Luna ceremony would you like to invite your family?” Roisin asks.
“Yes please, Luna Roisin. That would be lovely.” I smile, touched by her consideration.
“Of course, darling, though if we are having the ceremony in the next few days, we are going to need to go dress shopping. Caroline and Eva, you both need to go with us.” Roisin states, looking at the former Beta and Gamma females.
Caroline and Eva squeal in delight, nodding their heads enthusiastically.
“Mom, can we go too?” Eva’s daughter, Laurel, indicates to herself and her younger sister, Harley.
“You’ll have to talk to Morrigan about that dear,” Eva says.
Laurel and Harley look at me with puppy dog eyes and their bottom lips poking out. I roll my eyes and sigh, with a chuckle at their faces.
“I mean, I suppose you guys can come too,” I reply to their needy-looking faces.
Now it was Laurel and Harley’s turn to squeal, any higher pitched and my ears would have bled. I cringe at the screeching while everyone else laughs and shakes their heads. When everyone had finished eating dinner, the plates were cleared, and Rian dismissed everyone to go about the rest of their evening. I was ready to crawl into bed and sleep, though I’m not sure if that’s what Rian has in mind after my little disappearing act this morning.
