Chapter 26

(Rian’s P.O.V) I could tell this prophecy was weighing heavily on Morrigan’s mind and I knew she needed reassurance about all of this. As confident as she can be, I know there is a portion of her that doubts her abilities. I’m hopeful that Lysander and King Alstin will be able to help her with both her powers and her confidence in them. I don’t like seeing my mate doubting herself so badly. We get back to the house where Cormac says his goodbyes and goodnights to both Morrigan and me. We walk into the house and up to our bedroom. It had been a long day so all we wanted to do was collapse into bed and sleep. Killian, please make sure that we have one of the best female warriors prepared to train with Morrigan the day after tomorrow. I want to test her fighting in human form before we get started training her in wolf-form. Yes, Alpha. I will make sure that Kalie is prepared. Thank you, Killian. Goodnight. Goodnight, Alpha. Morrigan is already in bed, half-asleep when I finished my conversation with Killian and got myself ready for bed. I crawl into bed and pull my mate close to my chest, just wanting to breathe her in. Her warm lavender and pine scent lulled me into a blissful sleep. The next day, we wake up and head to the packhouse for breakfast, to eat with my parents and the rest of the ranking families. I hope that Killian and Cormac find their mates soon so we can round out our numbers. Breakfast was a rather subdued affair for Morrigan, she was constantly lost in thought, and I could feel her anxiety through the bond. Baby, you need to stop worrying so much. After breakfast, we will call King Alstin and discuss with him the possibility of having one of his magic warriors come to train you. I know mo rí but I just don’t like this whole weight on my shoulders, particularly because I understand where Calida and Silas are coming from. I wasn’t overtly shunned as a child, but because I wasn’t Fae by blood, everyone looked down on me in one way or another. I understand that baby, but you also need to do what is good for the entire realm, because if these dark Fae come to power you know they will cause havoc. I know. With that final declaration, I could tell that she was getting aggravated with me, so she closed her link off and continued breakfast in silence. I know that everyone could feel the tension in the air, but there was nothing we can do about it right now. After breakfast, Morrigan and I, along with Killian and Cormac, went up to my office in the packhouse. It was large enough to fit three grown werewolves of high rank and my somewhat petite Luna. The furnishings were heirlooms from my however many greats grandfather and he insisted that they be kept in this office. I honestly hated them, but with the old bastard still alive, there was no getting rid of them at this point. Everyone took their seats as I sat down behind the desk, pulling out my cell phone to enter King Alstin’s phone number on my desk phone, putting it on speakerphone so everyone could hear. It rang three times before a feminine voice answered. “King Alstin’s office, may I ask who is speaking?” “This is Supreme Alpha Rian O’Connor and I would like to speak with King Alstin.” “Please hold.” After a few seconds, a male voice, gruff and cold, answered the phone. “King Alstin speaking. It’s a surprise to hear from you, Supreme Alpha Rian.” “My apologies, Your Majesty, for the lack of communication between our kingdoms. However, I need your help.” “My help? With what?” He asks with a hint of suspicion in his voice. “My mate and Luna, Princess Morrigan, is needing help in harnessing her elven powers. She’s a hybrid and, so far, she can shapeshift and teleport, but she’s having difficulty with them. We are hoping that you or one of your trusted subjects would be willing to teach her.” I didn’t want the king knowing the whole truth, though I’m sure he had already heard rumors of Morrigan being a tribrid. There was a pause in the conversation at that point. I had almost thought he had disconnected our phone call, but after a minute he answered. “Please come to Eglarest tomorrow morning. I would like to meet your mate and Luna and gauge her powers before I commit to anything.” “Of course, Your Majesty. We will be there around 10 in the morning? Does that work?” “Yes, that will be fine.” Without another word, he hangs up. Hmm, a rude bastard isn’t he. “Well, at least we have a meeting,” Killian states. “Yeah, he could have said no. I was expecting that to be his answer, to be honest.” Cormac says. “Now all we need is to call Lysander. Morrigan, would you like to do that?” I ask. Morrigan pulls her phone out and dials Lysander’s number. As it rings, she puts it on speakerphone. “Hey, sissy!” “Hey Win, can I talk to Lysander please?” “Sure, I’ll go grab him. What’s up? You seem upset?” Princess Winnie asks. We can hear shuffling and footsteps over the phone as she goes in search of Lysander. “It’s nothing Win, Lysander can tell you after I talk to him, but I just don’t want to talk about it right now,” Morrigan says in a low voice that is dripping with anxiety and sadness. “If Rian is being an asshat, you better tell me, I’ll use my Fae magic on the fucker and make him cry if I need to.” Morrigan laughs, “No, it’s nothing like that sister, I promise.” “Well, here’s Lysander. Call me if you need anything, sis. I’m here for you.” “Hey Mo, what’s going on?” Lysander answers. “Well, I kind of need your help. Well, anyone’s help from your kingdom.” “Why? What’s going on?” Morrigan proceeds to tell Lysander about the prophecy that she and Vladimir had found in Alynthi and that she hasn’t manifested any of her spell caster magic. “I’ll be happy to help you, sis. Do you want your lessons in Máni or here in Eferhile? I don’t want to do this in Khisfire with Beatrix’s coven being responsible for the foresight fog.” “Can we do it here? I don’t want to keep traveling and taking Rian away from work he needs to be doing here in the kingdom.” She’s so perfect. She is kind and considerate of our people and the fact that I am a busy man. We need to put a pup in her. Woah, hold on there dude. Let’s get over this threat first before we put a pup in her. Stark huffs in annoyance, but I know that he agrees with my reasoning, we don’t want to put our mate AND pup in danger. We need to wait for that. I look up to Morrigan, who narrows her eyes at me, having heard my conversation with Stark. I can’t help the blush that spreads across my cheeks knowing we were caught. “That’s perfect, Morrigan. I can come this weekend if you have time. I know that’s short notice since tomorrow is Thursday, but I have some things around Khisfire that I need to take care of with my parents.” “That’s fine Lysander. We will be going to Eglarest tomorrow to meet King Alstin,” She states. “Wow, let me know how that goes. He’s known for being a fierce warrior but rather reclusive when not in battle.” “Definitely. Hug Winnie for me and let her know that I will call her later. Love you, big brother.” “Love you too, sis.” Morrigan proceeds to hang up the phone and look at us.
