As the convoy of darkly shaded vehicles finally arrived at their destination, a private airstrip just on the outside of New York, the vehicles simultaneously pulled up right beside the expensive Romano family jet where several men were standing waiting for their scheduled arrival.
These men were there to assist the Don and the others traveling with him with their baggage and items needed for boarding.
Car doors opened all at once and everyone traveling in the Reaper’s group began to exit their cars.
One by one they proceeded to make their way up the aluminium staircase to board the sleek silver jet that they would be traveling on that evening.
Luckily, Willow and Roberto had already arrived there less than ten minutes earlier and they were waiting on board with baby Alessandro when the Reaper and his woman did finally arrive.
Escorting Alexa from the parked limousine with his hand held at her lower back, Dante made his way up the staircase alongside her, then entering the jet where they were immediately welcomed aboard by the flight attendants.
They were three chipper young women, each with incredible features and each who looked to be in their twenties, if not early thirties.
And every one of them wearing a s**t tonne of make-up, with their cleavage hoisted up for the world to see.
“Good evening, Mr. Romano.” the first attendant cooed, battering her long fake lashes at him.
“Welcome aboard, sir.” the second added with a smile.
It brought back memories for Alexa as she walked past them with their cheery smiles and bleached white teeth.
Back when Dante was courting her on their trip to Chicago to meet his brothers.
Those were easier days... when there was less danger and deceit surrounding them.
But strangely enough, Alexa didn’t seemed to take much notice of their obvious attempts at flirting with her rich, billionaire fiancé.
Instead, she continued on further inside the luxurious jet towards where she would be seated for their take-off.
She had more pressing matters on her mind right now.
The sound of a familiar voice suddenly caught her attention, pulling her from her dark thoughts as she looked up and gasped happily.
“Lex, is that you?” Willow called out.
“It is! Oh thank God!”
It was indeed Willow and she came darting out of the section where she and Roberto were currently seated together with her arms open wide and a concerned expression on her face.
She had been terribly worried for her bestie this entire time!
“Willow...”
Alexa spoke with a smile as the red head wrapped both arms around her and squeezed tightly.
“You had me so worried. I thought I’d never see you again.”
Willow spoke into the side of her friend’s neck, right before they then parted to look at one another, though still embraced arm in arm.
“Are you alright. Did that asshole do anything to you? Did he hurt you in any way?” Willow interrogated her, scanning her from head to toe for any injuries.
Alexa chuckled softly at her friend’s overprotectiveness.
“No, Will… I’m fine, really.” she admitted with a shrug of her shoulders.
“Good to hear. I told you that guy was bad news, didn’t I?” Willow pointed out with a frown.
“The jerk was giving me bad vibes from day one.”
Now choosing to take charge and step in, Dante wrapped his arm around Alexa’s shoulder as he spoke politely to Willow.
“Alright Willow, we can chat more about this a little later on, hmm?”
He made his forced suggestion whilst lifting both his brows as he began to lead Alexa further along towards their waiting seats.
“Right now, we all need to be seated. We’re about to take off.”
“Oh yeah, sure...” Willow agreed with a smile.
“I’ll just be back there with Roberto and the baby until we’re in the air.”
Alexa suddenly froze in place, her eyes wide as she heard Willow’s last words.
She slowly turned to face her friend who had already turned to make her way back to where she was seated.
“Will, wait!”
Alexa’s voice came out soft, laced with obvious disbelief as she watched Willow pause and turn back around to face her again.
“My son… is he…”
Smiling proudly, Willow nodded her head in response.
“Actually, he’s been waiting rather patiently for both his parents to arrive.” she admitted.
“Wait here, I’ll go get him for you.”
With that the red head turned back around and made her way to where Roberto had been left with the baby.
Alexa, now excited about seeing her son for the first time since they had both been kidnapped, could feel her heart racing heavily with anticipation and nervousness.
She honestly couldn’t believe that her baby was alive and well!
“Come, bella… sit here with me.”
Dante spoke, gesturing for her to sit down in one of the larger seats where he always sat during flights.
“Willow will be back in a second amore mio, don’t worry.”
Sitting herself down beside him, Alexa kept her chocolate brown eyes locked on the doorway’s opening where Willow had promised to emerge with her son.
More than anything else in the entire world, she needed to see her child with her own two eyes.
She needed to hold him with her own two hands.
Seconds later movement grabbed her attention as both Willow and Roberto returned through the open doorway, both with big smiles on their faces.
“Bro, you made it!” Roberto called out, holding out his hand for Dante to grab as the two leaned in for a brotherly hug with one another.
“We were beginning to get worried you might not show up there for a minute.”
Dante turned to look at Alexa for a moment with a devious smirk tugging at the corner of his delicious mouth as he spoke his decided upon excuse aloud.
“Alexa and I just needed a little time to… discuss things.” he sugar-coated the truth just a little.
But Roberto and Willow were no fools.
They knew what the power couple had really been up to in the past hour or so.
And honestly, no one could blame them for wanting to reunite with one another after everything the two of them had been through recently.
“Sure, you were, bro...” Roberto mused, nudging his older brother’s shoulder and winking.
“I’m sure there was a f**k-load of discussing things going on in that hotel room, huh?”
As Dante gave his brother a glare of warning, Willow picked the right moment to cut in and interrupt with a change of subject.
“Well, I think that someone wants to say hello to their mummy and daddy…” she announced with a smile as she held out the tiny baby for both Dante and Alexa to finally see.
Alexa’s heart almost stopped beating as soon as she sighted him. Her perfect little angel with his dark hair and emerald-green eyes.
Just like this father had.
Sitting forwards, she reached out her hands as tears began to pool in each of her eyes.
Tears of joy and excitement.
Of gratitude and praise.
Willow then carefully handed the baby boy across to his seated mum, propping his tiny head up in Alexa’s arms and then stepping back to view these excited parents finally being reunited with their child.
A family once again.
It was unlike anything she had ever seen before. The love and compassion shown here, it could have melted even the coldest heart within a matter of mere seconds.
Both Alexa and Dante were cooing over their baby boy who was by now wide awake and responding to their interactions.
“God, I missed him so much.” Alexa spoke while closing her eyes and allowing the tears to roll down from both her cheeks.
“He’s missed you too.”
Dante assured her with a smile as the Don held out his finger and Alessandro’s tiny fingers wrapped themselves around it.
“We both have.”
Returning his smile, Alexa leaned in and kissed the Don softly on the lips.
It was a kiss of thanks, for allowing this perfect moment to even take place in such a dangerously destructive world as theirs.
She then looked up at her bestie and Dante’s brother who were still standing watch over their beautiful moment.
“And thank you both, so much.” Alexa added with a smile.
“I honestly don’t know what I’d do without either of you.”
Roberto wrapped his arm around Willow from where he stood by her side, just as Willow spoke.
“It was no problem, really.” she admitted with a dismissive wave of her hand in the air in front of her.
“I mean, we have to get used to being parents sooner rather than later, now that… well, you know.”
As Willow gestured downwards to her belly, both Dante and Alexa’s eyes widened with shock and excitement at the news the couple had yet to learn.
“No!” they both spoke with disbelief and in perfect unison together.
Alexa then took the lead.
“You’re really-”
“-Preggers...” Willow cut in with an excited smile as she turned to look into Roberto’s eyes.
“Yeah. I guess we are.”
“Congratulations, big guy!”
Dante spoke while moving to stand up and give his younger brother a proper hug at such exciting news.
“Holy s**t Will, this is incredible news. For both of you!” Alexa cried out as she reached her hand out for Willow to take.
“I can’t believe it! Do you know how far along you are?”
Taking her friend’s hand, Willow pulled it in to rest it on her belly as she continued speaking with obvious excitement.
“The doctor said I was around two months, give or take, so it’s still sort of fresh. But yeah, we only just found out ourselves. Crazy, huh?”
With her open palm now resting over Willow’s still flat stomach, Alexa couldn’t stop herself from smiling so much that it was beginning to hurt.
Things were finally turning out well for her bestie, after all that she’d been through in her unfortunate past.
Finally, it appeared as if things were looking up for them!

With everyone on board, several men were busy working down on the tarmac, doing the jet’s final checks before it would soon take-off.
And amongst them was none other than a disguised Petros, posing as one of the maintenance crew in attendance there that night.
He wore a company cap pulled down to cover most of his face. With that and the darkened shadows already surrounding them, it wasn’t easy to spot him out as an imposter amongst the others around him.
When everyone else was busy with their own tasks, Petros quickly slipped out a small and stealthy tracking beacon and stuck the adhesive side against the underside of the jet.
He used as much force as he could to ensure that the small piece of expensive technology wouldn’t just fly off during take-off.
Then stepping away, he casually moved his way back out of sight and headed off towards his waiting car parked at the edge of the tarmac.
He would need to check that the tracking beacon was transmitting correctly before the jet took off.
Upon reaching his car, he stopped and pulled out a slim screen with a keypad at the bottom.
It showed the image of a radar and had a flickering red light pulsing over and over.
The red dot was obviously the tracking device, which was now attached to the jet.
This would tell Petros exactly where the Reaper and his party were traveling to.
A smug smile formed on his face as he pulled out his phone and dialled Vincenzo’s direct number, waiting as it began to ring.
‘Ring... ring...’
The phone picked up after several rings and Vincenzo’s voice spoke on the other end of the line.
“You better have good news for me.”
“Well… there is good news and then there’s bad news.” Petros proclaimed while tilting his head.
Glancing upwards he noticed as the jet began to head towards the runway, ready to take-off into the sky for its intended journey.
“Cut the crap, Petros!”
Vincenzo snapped into the phone, clearly feeling his patience run dangerously thin.
“Do you have eyes on her or not? Where is she?”
“Well, I’m afraid that’s the bad news.”
Petros began to explain, glancing between the jet now taking off in front of him, back down to the radar screen he held in his opposite hand.
“It looks your beautiful new wife is headed off on a private jet with our friend, the Reaper. They just took off.”
“WHAT! f**k!”
“Yeah, it’s heading off as we speak.”
Petros reported as the silver jet began ascending higher and higher into the air with each second that passed.
“Accidenti! Che cazzo di madre!”(God damn it! That mother fucker!)
The Don cursed aloud on the other end of the line as he went into a full-blown fury at the burdening news.
“Ucciderò il bastardo per questo!” (I will kill the bastard for this!)
After a minute or so of cursing aloud to himself, Vincenzo sounded as if he had begun to calm himself back down a little.
Deepened breaths could be heard on the other end as Petros waited patiently to deliver his good news.
As Vincenzo finally spoke again, his voice now came out eerily calmer than it had before.
“So, Petros... prey tell. With my wife now headed who-knows-where, what could your good news possibly be?”
Petros gave a dark chuckle as he lifted the radar screen up to get a better look at the moving target visible on it.
The red blinking dot now appeared to be moving at a very slow speed across the screen.
“Oh, I don’t think that finding their destination is gonna be a problem for us, boss.” he announced with a smile.
“Not with the high-tech tracker I just fixed to the Reaper’s jet right before they took off.”
The line went silent for a moment.
Oddly silent and it caused Petros to frown in confusion.
Was Vincenzo there?
As he opened his mouth to say something, Vincenzo’s smooth tone spoke through the other end of the line with a calm and in control manner once again.
“You’re saying, you have a tracker on Dante’s plane?”
“Correct.” Petros agreed with a nod of his head.
Vincenzo then began to laugh a deep and sinister villainous laugh that even made Petros feel slightly uneasy.
It started off softly but then grew in size and volume.
“Ah, this is indeed incredibly good news, Petros. I must admit, you have done very well.”
The Don congratulated his freelance henchman.
“You’re right about that.” Petros agreed.
“Perhaps we could even work out a new deal? Let’s say, for my... added efforts in the search?”
Vincenzo chuckled.
“Yes, of course that won’t be a problem. You’ve certainly earned every single penny...” he agreed.
“Now, I expect you to be here within the hour with the tracker. I will need to see proof of what you’re claiming before any money is exchanged. You understand, of course?”
Petros nodded his head as the jet disappeared up into the cloudy night sky above.
“Completely. I know how these things work.” he agreed happily.
“Guess I’ll see you within the hour.”
