I was trapped, helpless and alone. Ray's twisted games had broken me, and I knew I would never escape.
But just as all hope seemed lost, I heard a faint whisper in my ear. "One, two, Freddy's coming for you."
I turned to see Freddy Krueger, the dream demon, standing behind Ray. His burned and disfigured face twisted into a snarl as he reached out and grabbed Ray.
"You've been a very naughty boy," Freddy hissed, his voice dripping with malevolent glee.
Ray screamed as Freddy dragged him away, the sound of his terror echoing through the toy box.
And then, everything went black.
I slowly opened my eyes to find myself in a sterile white room. I was lying in a hospital bed, surrounded by the beeping of machines and the soft murmur of voices.
A nurse smiled down at me, her eyes kind and compassionate. "Welcome back," she said. "You've been asleep for a long time."
I tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over me. The nurse gently pushed me back down.
"You're safe now," she said. "You're in a mental hospital, receiving treatment for your... episodes."
I looked around, trying to take it all in. I was safe. I was alive.
And it was all over.
The nightmares, the monsters, the endless terror. It was all just a product of my own twisted mind.
I lay back, feeling a sense of peace wash over me. I was finally free.
And as I drifted off to sleep, I knew that I would never be haunted by those monsters again.
THE END.
