As soon as he knew she was asleep, he pressed a kiss to her hand before prying his out of her grip.
He was furious.
Standing up, he stomped out of the room and down the stairs. Upon entering the living room, his eyes lay upon his mother talking to one of the servants.
Upon the servant noticing his presence and anger, she scurried away, not wanting to be caught up in his wrath.
His mother turned to him and smiles, as if nothing ever happened, as if she and his father didn’t kidnap his mate.
He growls, “I found her. She’s safe.”
Isabella’s eyes narrowed at him and sighed, “That’s great, Lucian. But why go through all of that when you have Ava right here? She loves you.”
“I don’t want Ava!,” Lucian snapped, “I want Evelynn! She is my mate, not Ava.”
She groaned, “Lucian, we don’t care that she is your mate. Ava is a much better choice to be your wife and the next Luna of our pack.”
He growled. “I don’t take kindly to such hateful words towards my mate,” He says, slowly, walking towards his mother.
The woman rolls her eyes, “Come on, son. You have to realise that you’re just going to ruin the pack if you choose her to be Luna. Just stay with Ava, she was always so happy to be Luna.”
“NO!” He snaps as he stomps closer to her, “She was so happy to be Luna because she’s a greedy, attention-seeking b***h! She doesn’t love me, she loves the power of becoming Luna!”
At his steps forwards, she steps back. It brings him a strange sense of victory that he revels in.
“She should be weary,” Leo stated smugly.
“Dear, calm down, I’m your mother. I know what’s best for you and this pack, and that is not her,” She hisses.
Lucian growled, “Do not talk about my mate like that. You do not know what’s best for me! You’re trying to ruin my life.” He snarled, stepping closer once again.
And once again, she stepped back, further away from him.
Her back hit the front door, hand searching for the handle before flinging it open and stepping out backwards.
“You were so happy with Ava! Why did you let this change you? It isn’t fair to that poor girl,” She tried to reason with him gently.
When he stepped out after her, the Beta Oliver was frozen still roughly 20 feet away, with plenty of packmen playing around the grounds of the pack house, close enough to know what was happening.
He just chuckled without any mirth, “She isn’t a ‘poor girl’. That ‘poor girl’ tried sleeping with two of the pack court-men a few weeks ago.” The man groaned as he continued, “I was never happy with her, she was just incase I couldn’t find my mate. I never changed.”
Lucian knew that the people around could hear what he said, but they all knew it anyways. No-one but his parents ever liked Ava.
His mother gasped at the accusation. “N-no, Lucian, she-“
“She would never?” He asked with a straight face and raised brow, “Are you sure about that? I don’t understand why you and Father like her. She will never be Luna and that is final.”
She just smacked her lips shut, brows furrowed, not saying a word.
“The one who will be Luna is my mate,” He huffs before continuing, “The mate that you took from her room, the one that you hid away on rouge lands! She could have died!”
Gasps could be heard from all around by the pack members who had been listening in.
Isabella sputtered, “It was for your own good, Lucian! And for the betterment of the pack! Don’t make me seem like a monster.”
“You are a monster. She is an innocent wolf and you were going to let her die to the rogues. She is my mate,” Lucian growled.
“Lucian, come on! You have to see the bigger picture here,” The woman pleaded.
Slowly, more members of the pack crowded closer, some faces were riddled with shock and some with fury that their Luna would kidnap another member of the pack.
He looked around with a smug smirk at all the people.
“See, Mother? The pack does not agree with your methods. They do not see your actions as ‘for the betterment of the pack’. Your people do not follow you or Father anymore,” He growled.
As she looked around at the other wolves who stare back at her with disgust.
“N-No!” She growled, “You cannot do anything! I am the Luna and he is the Alpha! We run this pack!”
Lucian huffed, “That’s where you’re wrong, Mother. We can do something. Hundreds of years ago, the Alpha of our pack was thrown out of power for his actions.”
Her eyes widened at his words.
He grinned at the response before continuing, “You are not in power anymore, they do not have to listen to you any longer. They are my wolves now.”
With that, the other wolves begin to chant their distaste towards the Alpha and Luna. They howl and snarl at the woman, each shouting their plea for her abdication.
The noise elicited Felix to move down the stairs of the pack house and walk outside, standing stock still at the words of their pack.
Isabella was on the verge of tears, but no-one cared. She did not deserve mercy for harming a member of their pack.
Felix’s attempts at descaling the situation were proved futile when they all just got louder, howling and growling at the two.
Oliver walked over with a sad face, giving Lucian a silent apology for what he was going through, but Lucian just brushed it off.
“It has to happen,” He said, “If I want my mate to be safe and for our pack to prosper, they need to go.”
And, at even the rage of their Beta, the two back down and Felix sighs. There was no coming back from this. Everyone, including their own son and their chosen Beta, were against them.
“Okay!” He growls roughly, “Okay. You win. We will back down, just stop!” Felix barks.
Oliver and Lucian let out a sigh of relief that the situation hadn’t escalated to violence. The pack has had enough of that lately.
Their abdication would be instilled immediately. Lucian declared they had 24 hours to remove their things from the pack house, allowing them to at least stay on pack grounds in a small home some bit away from the centre.
Although his parents were no longer Alpha and Luna, Lucian would not be named Alpha for several days. It was a special occasion to have a new Alpha named and therefore he must wait for his ceremony. Until then, Oliver would take charge of the pack with help from other high-standing members to ensure things ran smoothly.
With the situation dealt with, he made his way back into the house and up to his room where Evelynn was still sleeping.
He would have to tell her the news in the morning. He hoped she would agree to be his Luna soon enough so the pack could be fully stable.
