Senator Fayron
He beat his fists against the table, they had lost her again. He had already been punished for allowing her to escape the facility, but he needed to get her back otherwise everything he worked for would be ruined. The men around the table looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to announce the plan. The search hadn’t stopped but they had all quickly realised that taking her by force didn’t work. Her power was even greater than first realised.
A loud banging stirred the room. Fayron waved his hand and a young man that had been standing by his side went to open the door. He could hear the snarling and hisses as the guests entered. He had mustered a smaller search party to go after Sarah and her mate. It comprised mostly of vampires who had a reputation for impatience and bad tempers.
“What’s the news?”
Fayron’s voice cut through the silence and everyone was instantly drawn to attention. This hissing stopped and he could feel their eyes burning the back of his head.
“They had stopped at the manor of Alpha Luther of the Blue Moon pack; Alpha Luther was not there but his daughter Isabella was. We have begun questioning her now”
The head of the search party had moved next to Fayron’s chair and was now staring down at him with penetrating eyes. He was one of the largest men Fayron had ever met, and one of the foulest.
“Anything come of that yet?”
“No sir. She is very reluctant to give up any information, that is why I have come to you”
Fayron got up quickly at the vampire’s words and paced out of the room. He could feel the large man stalking behind him as they rounded the corner towards the interrogation rooms.
“If you were asking for my permission then consider it granted. I need that information, by any means necessary.”
Fayron’s voice was a small whisper, he didn’t want to risk the other’s hearing this. The vampire nodded, however, an awful smile creeping over his face. He turned and headed towards the small locked room where the Alpha’s daughter was hidden away.
Fayron rubbed his head as he waited before quickly walking back towards the large meeting hall. Everyone stood as he entered, he waved them away and they all reluctantly sat. Rounding his chair Fayron sat and was once again bathed in the awful silence of the room. All eyes bearing down on him. He wished he could release his powers on them all, squash their eyes through the back of their heads. However, he was too level-headed for that. Despite the immensity of his power he preferred to plan, to manipulate; play the slow game. It was something he had only began to appreciate while studying the Senate’s documents that were saved from the last cultural cleansing. The secret power of an otherwise harmless species.
Everyone stiffened as the door opened and heavy footsteps made their way to Fayron’s chair. Fayron merely turned lazily to meet the smirking vampire.
“She gave in. They were there to search for something on the computer. She said it had to do with an archaeological find in the deep south. A ground-breaking discovery. Founded by two anthropologists, husband and wife”
“Why would they need that?”
Fayron rubbed his head. Perhaps she was trying to find answers. If there was any way to uncover the lost history, it would have to be through the remnants that have not yet been destroyed. That must have been why they were looking for the anthropologists. They lived on King Jeremy’s land so they may have been familiar with one another.
“Robert, can you find anything?”
A man in the corner of the room gave a polite nod towards the Senator before rapidly typing away at the computer set out in front of him. The room was filled with the sound of the keyboard and clicks of the mouse. At least it was better than the silence that had been drowning them for the past few hours.
“Sounds like it was Doctor Myra and Doctor Anthony of the Cross-Research Centre”
Fayron abruptly stood and headed towards the door with the large vampire by his side. Without turning around, he shouted out to the large room.
“Send the address to Felix, tell him to be ready by the time I reach his office”
He headed through the doors and down the hall towards the large staircase. Felix was a trusted member of his personal counsel, a very skilled teleporter who had many times aided Fayron in some of his more underhanded manoeuvres. The large vampire Hugo had become Fayron’s personal bodyguard and oversaw the implementation of most of Fayron’s dirty work. That was why he was needed for the meeting with the doctors.
They needed to send a message, and they had to make sure they were heard.
Tyson
Tyson woke with his arm around his sleeping mate. He didn’t want to wake her, she seemed so sound, a small smile over her fair face. He studied her as he brushed her golden hair away from her face, planting small kisses where each strand had been removed. She stirred slightly as he continued down towards her neck and back behind her ear. Turning towards him she opened her striking blue eyes and lent forward to place kisses on his lips. He moaned slightly as she did. She quickly moved on top of him, her chest pressed against his as she began softly kissing his neck.
He could feel as he began to stiffen where her hips were pressed against his. She began moving and he couldn’t help as his hands quickly rose to work on her shirt. Her hands were suddenly on his pants and had begun unbuckling. His hardness sprung out and began pressing urgently against her. After her shirt was unbuttoned, he quickly moved to press kisses on her chest, while he worked on her pants. Her moan sent shivers through him which only made him sit up to devour more of her. Finally, her pants were removed, and she pushed him back down onto the thin foam.
She positioned herself over him before slowly lowering herself. Tyson moaned at the feeling; she was amazing. He traced his fingers lightly over where he could see the bulge in her stomach. She steadily began moving her hips as she leaned down towards him. He grabbed at her chest as she moved, her hair falling around him in golden streams. Their heavy breathing mixed as everything got more and more intense. She moaned uncontrollably as she moved on him. Her hands began to clench at the mattress underneath them as she continued to cry out. Tyson groaned in response to each urgent movement. He roared as he pushed her down onto him as he finished.
Panting she rolled off, smiling up towards him. Grinning he gently began tracing her soft skin while he leant down to begin kissing his mate. Exploring her mouth tenderly with his tongue while his fingers continued to explore her body. Finally, they parted, and they continued to lay there staring deep into each other’s eyes while Tyson stroked her hair.
“We should probably get going, shouldn’t we”
Tyson nodded, surprised that it was her that had suggested continuing their journey. He stood up and held out his hand for his mate. They quickly began to get dressed from the new clothes gifted by Isabella. Tyson found the clothes to be too tight but as he surveyed his mate, he was taken aback by how well she suited the new clothing. He hoped that one day they could have a normal life together, where they can lay in bed for hours on lazy mornings before heading out for a late breakfast. Where they could laugh and joke in his mother’s garden and he could introduce her to his pack as his mate and their Luna.
Sarah held out her hand and he smiled as he accepted it as they continued towards the Research Centre.
Sarah
We joked as we walked. It was nice to be alone with him again. The morning still played over and over in my head. I had wished we could lay there but the more I thought, the more I realised that the sooner we find the doctors the sooner we can return to a better life. We hadn’t eaten since our visit to the doctors’ cottage and my stomach had begun making its grievances.
“Do you want to stop; we can grab something to eat?”
I shook my head at Tyson’s proposition. I had lost my knives during the encounter with the Senate’s men. It still weighed heavily on me as it was the last remnant of my father that I owned. But now it also meant that I couldn’t hunt for our food.
“It’s okay. I lost my knives anyway so I can’t hunt”
Tyson turned towards me shaking his head.
“You do realise I can turn into a wolf? I can handle the hunting”
He winked as he nudged me. I beamed up towards him, unable to control reciprocating his contagious smile.
“Thanks for the offer but I’m sure I can make it to the research centre, it can’t be long now”
“Actually, I think we’re pretty close”
I looked towards where Tyson was pointing. A small shabby building was peeking through the heavy trees. What looked like a road was visible leading to the small building before being lost from sight in the heavy foliage.
We picked up our pace as we walked towards the building. I breathed a sigh of relief as we finally emerged from the trees and into the opening. Tyson led me towards the front door, eager to be inside. As his hand rose to knock on the door it slipped open with a small creak. Tyson looked back towards me, a stern look no covering his face. He stepped inside and abruptly stopped. I moved around him to see what he was looking at.
The room was a mess. Papers had been thrown everywhere and desks where overturned. On the floor in a small puddle of blood was a woman and a man. Tyson knelt towards them, checking their injuries. The man quickly brushed off Tyson’s concerned hand and motioned towards the woman lying next to him who hadn’t yet moved. Tyson slowly sat her up and began examining her wounds. I stepped forward and sat next to Tyson. She had a large head wound but after checking her vitals I assured the man that she was okay.
“Anthony. What happened?”
Anthony shook his head as tears spilled from his eyes.
“They knew you were coming”
I could feel the blood drain from my face. This had happened because of us.
“Anthony… I’m so…”
Anthony raised his hand cutting of Tyson’s words.
“That’s not all. They left a message”
Coughing erupted Anthony’s explanation as he keeled over. He needed healing, both of them did. I shuffled forward ready to try the new power again. Before I had a chance, Anthony rose back up and laid a heavy hand on Tyson’s shoulder.
“They have them, Tyson. They have your family”
