Alicia POV                          I watched as he ascended into the sky. I have never watched a dragon fly before......well without the overwhelming urge to kill them. It's so hard to accept the fact my mate is a freaking dragon. Even if I do accept him my entire family would rather die than aceept him as anything. They would kill him before he steeped foot in the outlands and his people will gladly rip my throat apart. So for now to protect each of our necks we are probably gonna hide our newly found mate discovery.                    As I dragged my kill that I shot down to the outlands I was immediately sited from afar and well received by my people. The huge deer and my back was heavy enough. I was going to give the deer to my mom so she can cook for everyone but one glance at the woman with 4 sickly looking children that were wobbling with starvation I changed my mind. My families crops are growing and we can survive one night without meat. But this Lady can't. I knew the woman. She had 4 children all under seven years of age. Her husband got killed by a dragon while he was trying to hunt for his family in the mainlands. Her kids would die with no food and to top it off.  She just survived a dragon attack when she tried to hunt for her kids. They found her and attacked her she managed to survive but the dragon's talon scratched her leg. It was a very deep wound. Now she can't hunt or farm and her kids are about to die.                        I dropped the deer in her tiny tent and asked her to cook something for her kids and I promised her I would send farm products. She was so happy she fell on the floor in tears. I almost cried as I begged her to stop thanking me. Things like this makes me hate dragons. They caused all these. Flying bastards. But the overwhelming guilt came in full force as I realized I am a traitor. I came here riding on the back of one of those monsters. Who just happens to be my mate. I calmly left after consoling the poor lady. I sighed. Life is hard in the outlands. It is horrible almost as bad as earth probably is. The constant fear of death of yourself or family. Trying to farm with bad soil and little rain and also trying to hunt knowing you could die in seconds.                  Only the strong could stay alive. As I approached my tent I took a tiny bit of pride in it. It was one of the biggest tents in the entire camp and I made it myself. Though my parents lived in a different tent. But unsurprisingly enough I found them sitting in the entrance waiting for me.        I smiled happily as I hugged and greeted them. Family is the best.             "Dad,mom I'm sorry. I didn't bring back a kill to you guys" I said.          My  mom and dad looked at each other and weirdly smiled. "Its ok Ally we saw what you did for that poor lady. That was very honourable of you. You are truly the protector of the outlands" . my mom said taking my hands.         And that was my title. I was their projector. My dad was too he led everyone here from the kingdom of light and he was the one that pleaded with the dark side to let the humans live in their world. Even after we got pushed to the outlands he set up over 500,000 tents, conducted a heist to steal farm product seeds from the industrial facility of agriculture in the dark side and also started up the Camp farm. Though he's greatest accomplishments to him after having me as a daughter was eventing the slayer stick. A sharp 2m stick with a poisonous tip. Once the stick is used to stab a dragon in its heart or head the dragon is gone. So yeah after all that he retired  and I took his place as the protector of the outlands. Someone has to help them. And I was doing a good job until I betrayed them by finding out my mate's a dragon.                    "How's the farm" I asked.        "We are down with food by 30% this week. Our yams and tomatoes are rotting and our fruits are noticeably smaller ". My dad answered.       I took in a sharp breath. " What about the water" I asked.           "I hate to tell you this but the river poison is back and its spreading even faster this year. More 40% of the water is already infected".          I took an even deeper breath. The annual river poison time is the worst times of the year. A lot of people die this time. And now its spreading even faster. People have barely recovered from the last infection now we have to deal with this crap.       " I have navigated a root for us to go hunting . The forest dragon patrols are idiots that follow the same pattern over and over again. They won't go that far. If we go on a still night they won't smell us either. We can hunt there. As for the food we should quickly harvest the ones that aren't yet rotten and give it to the really needed families while we start planting new crops by the far side of the outlands. When I went through that part I noticed the soil is 10% better. As for the river. I guess we should put the iinfected areas on Lock do and prevent anyone from going near till the danger is over. We can also build like a wall or something to block the current flow of water. Because thats what's spreading the poison faster". I finished.           My mom and dad were looking at me admiringly. "Spoken like a true leader" my dad commented.         I almost felt the telling them I'm not a true leader but a traitor who has a dragon mate.     "Oh and in other news. I have found a hidden caves filled with. Mandel lilies. I can crush their petals to make so much poison for the slayer stick. Soon we would be armed enough to go to war with the dragons and show them we are not human weaklings anymore". My dad happily said patting my back.       I felt like choking
