Victor's POV
I crashed into Selene, wrapping my arms around her waist and spinning us both around. Her body collided with mine, and I used the force to switch our positions completely.
The silver blade that had been aimed at her sliced into my back instead, and a burning pain exploded through me unlike anything I had ever felt before.
It wasn't like a normal wound. Normal wounds hurt, but they healed. They closed up and disappeared within minutes.
This was different.
The silver burned like acid poured directly onto exposed nerves. Like fire eating through my muscles, my bones, my very soul.
But underneath the agony, underneath the burning and the tearing, I felt relieved that at least Selene was safe and I had gotten to her in time.
