Chapter 2 — His Return

Is that you're OK with us dinners?” Gamma Marcus laughed. “Elyra, what is the number of times that I have to say that again?” I smiled. “I don't know.” “Then stop asking.” He shoved it towards me. I made enough for all. I noticed the food and I said to myself, "That's my food! Roasted chicken. Potatoes. Fresh vegetables. This was a regular occurrence. However, my tummy wanted some food... Marcus laughed again. Would it be possible that you haven't eaten anything all day? “I was busy.” “You're always busy.” Across from him, his mate, Elena shook her head. It's something that she imposes on herself. I smiled at her. It's always been Elena's way. Warm. Gentle. Protective. All the things that my mom was not. Not my aunt at all! I didn't really have an uncle relationship with Marcus. Of course they were far more like parents than the ones whose names were listed on my birth record, but. In fact, I got to know Elena at the age of 9! After all, she's been dispatched to Mooncrest, where she's left totally alone with only that old suitcase and her many scars. He was there at that restaurant at the road where he had taken her. Both these two used to be good friends. They were a married couple. In some way I was in it. Elena, for the very first time I thought of you when you came to my side. I was eleven. Once again, my mother didn't remember to remind me of my birthday. Not a present. Not a cake. It's not bedtime! I then questioned her why she would not remember me, she then slapped me. I have a memory of that bite. The shock. My tears ran down my face, as I stood. Then I ran. Right to Marcus and to Elena! On an afternoon job Marcus was working in the training yard. So, I think, I was found once again by Elena. No one was questioned by her. She embraced me. It was all she needed to do. I cried by her shoulder till I had no more tears. Lastly, I said, “I wish you were my mommy” and she hugged me tighter. I wish that I was too.” I never had forgotten them. These years later it was more than my parents' words that would be a part of my life. I was in possession of some of Uncle's money.I had been given some money by Aunt. They had outfitted me in a car! They were happy to lend me a credit card! They had taken care of everything that I needed—that I was taken care of like material things. As I can recall they have never done that to me, nor have they treated themselves. Elena did. Marcus did. As a result, I didn't feel as horrible about leaving Mooncrest as I usually did. I was aware that I would leave the family that had rejected me. I simply left behind the only individuals who never showed me affection. From there he strolled along the path through my mind, and told me about Frostfang. I sighed. “Cold.” He laughed. “I meant the pack.” There's not much that I know about it.” Well I don't, I do…”, she answered. Marcus gazed at me. If you believe so then you should learn.” “I will.” “And Casey?” I glanced at him. “What about Casey?” Marcus wrinkled his brow. “Does he plan on coming back?” I was unable to smile though I tried! “Yes.” I was taken aback to see something I hadn't seen before this morning with Casey. He decided for himself that he'd move on when I told him that I was moving. He'd already spoken to Frostfang Gamma, and offered him an opportunity to be a member of the warriors, in those roles. I can't imagine that though. Of course you do have a pal like you,” replied Elena.” “I know.” I'm feeling a feeling in my chest now like it's in another heat. Perhaps it's not a bad idea to get a fresh start. Perhaps I wouldn't have to be by myself. I suppose that this was my first opportunity to begin a life of my own. I didn't know that at the very moment that someone was coming home! As I made my way home to the packhouse it was quite a lot of buzz. In front of a house with a lot of cars parked in front of it. The wolves were running towards the door in front, knocking and pushing on the door. People were whispering. I frowned. “What happened?” As I was inspecting one slave who was paying attention to me. “Kael is back.” My heart stopped. Kael. It was hoped that he would be around in the next few weeks. I stepped inside. The more audible voices of the callers heard. Then I saw him. This man was in the middle of the entrance hall area. Tall. Broad. An entirely different boy than any I had ever met. Abruptly, I became aware that my foot discomfort had subsided. Kael looked up. I (Ira) was the first to see him, my eyes. For some time, we found ourselves in the world by ourselves. He then took a silly look and then he was stunned. His eyes narrowed. He turned back to me, it was too long. I glanced away. I said to him "Welcome home, While we were walking I made an attempt to walk around him. My voice was able to be checked by him and he heckled me to a standstill. “Elyra.” I turned. “Yes?” I was looked over by his eyes. To the little bag which was hanging off my shoulder, “You're going somewhere?” “Tomorrow.” His expression tightened. “Where?” “Frostfang.” In his eyes he had a mirror image of himself, Anger. Confusion. I couldn't tell. He had not yet been able to speak a word, when Lydia came before him. “Kael!” She might be credited with being the light of the world: it was in her eyes. She came running up to him, and took him in her arms. “My son.” Kael hugged her. While his eyes were on me through her back. I didn't wait. I went upstairs. I didn't want to be a part of their party that they thought of in their mind. Later that night, I was in the shower when I heard someone knock at my door. I frowned. “Who is it?” No answer. I opened the door. Kael stood there. My eyes widened. He looked at me. Then immediately frowned. What kind of clothes do you have? I checked out my training clothes. Sports top and shorts. “Clothes.” His jaw tightened. “That's barely clothes.” I rolled my eyes. This is the outfit I wear during training. “Dressed like that you answer the door?” “Usually.” He stared at me. I crossed my arms. “Do you need anything? His eyes scanned over me. Then he caught sight of the room. The small bed. The worn furniture. A limited number of items in the corner. His expression changed. Why is he living here? I stared at him. “It's my room, why?” Why did you do that when I said that? I sighed. “Kael, 3 years have passed.” His eyes hardened. Last year I "came home.Last year I "came home. “For a week.” “Now I returned at Christmas time.” “Amen, I was in the Alpha quarters! He frowned. “Where were you?” I laughed bitterly. “Right here.” He seemed really confused. What could have happened had he not overlooked that? Perhaps it is because you weren't told.” “Who?” I shrugged. “Ask your mother.” There was some darkness in his face. What's the matter with you and my mom?” “Nothing.” “Don't lie to me.” I stared at him. Why is it that you're suddenly feeling this way? He didn't answer. I couldn't take the news that much longer. “Nothing, I was transferred out of the Alpha quarters, you did nothing.” Silence. Mom didn't talk to me – you didn't care. Nothing. When I was moved to another pack you did nothing.” His jaw tightened. I have just heard this man say.“Well I just heard about that,” says this guy. “Exactly.” I clung on to the door. This is the song that represents “Lovin' it” and the message has been globalised. Didn't shut the door and his hand grabbed it. “Casey, is he going to take you off with him?” I frowned. “What?” “Casey.” “Yes.” His eyes darkened. Have you set up an appointment with him? I stared at him. “Why?” “Just answer me.” What's the point? “It matters.” “No, it doesn't.” His voice dropped. “Are you?” I crossed my arms. In your opinion, what would you do if you were him? With a demonic appearance he assumed. He didn't go with you, I wouldn't let him go. I blinked. No one can select with whom I go! It's not a mate, it's just a friend.” His voice seems to be going out of his mouth. I stared at him. “How do you know?” He went silent. I then shook my head and grimaced. “You don't.” I pulled on the door once again. This one he held in his hand this time. “Elyra.” “What?” “Don't leave.” I had an odd feeling of unease in my heart. I hated that. It seemed to be a call to my deepest wish when I was a kid in my yearning. Don't leave. I knew that I wanted to do that, though! I've lived here for 18 years and I'm attempting to fit in here. I narrowed my eyes and glared at him. “I'm done.” His face tightened. YOU WILL NOT be permitted to go to Frostfang, I DO NOT! I can't stop me, “I can.” “Why?” He said nothing. I waited. Then he didn't say anything. So gently I pulled the door away from his hands. “Good night, Kael.” I shut it. I leaned up against the door, then. It was as if my heart was beating at a fast rate. He was beyond my comprehension. I simply didn't see why ending our relationship was so important. I just didn't understand the expression on his face as if it must be nearly... desperate! Kael I was ordered to stop and the door slammed in my face. I stared at it. She was leaving. Not only is Mooncrest being left. Leaving me. For three years I was living in denial that things would be easier if I had been further away. It hadn't. As soon as I caught her, down there—my subconscious erupted out of me. Her scent. Her eyes. How my wolf had instantaneously responded. Each and every instinct had shouted an "impossible word". Mine. I, clenching my fists, grumbled. She couldn't know. Not yet. I didn't realize three years ago that I was so afraid of something that I asked my mother to let me leave. She didn't know what was wrong with me, why I have not been moving a muscle to be with her. I myself have denied myself the return to my home, why am I not able? Why I did it didn't matter to me. Elyra was not only my adopted-sister, it was my favorite. She was the escape that I had turned to for 3 years to stay away from. Now she was going to be going out with another guy from Mooncrest. I saw the door, which was closed. My wolf growled. No. I wasn't about to allow that to happen. Not this time.
