Chapter 7 – Another Child, Another Heart
One month later...
Life slowly returned to the Singhania Mansion.
The pain of losing Naina never truly disappeared...
But people learned to carry it quietly.
Every morning, Pooja prepared breakfast in the large kitchen while humming the bhajans Naina used to sing.
Sometimes she stopped in the middle of a song...
Smiled sadly...
Then continued working.
Little Deepak sat on a stool beside her, swinging his legs.
"Maa..."
"Can I take milk to Vishu?"
Pooja smiled.
"Of course."
She handed him a small bottle.
"But hold it carefully."
Deepak nodded proudly.
"I will."
He ran toward Kumar's room with tiny footsteps.
Pooja watched him leave.
"My sweet boy..."
Inside the guest room...
Kumar was trying to fold baby clothes.
Vishu lay awake in his cradle, staring at the colorful toys hanging above him.
Deepak walked in carefully.
"Bhai..."
"I brought milk."
Kumar smiled.
"Thank you."
Deepak leaned over the cradle.
Vishu looked at him with wide eyes.
Then...
A tiny smile appeared on the baby's face.
Deepak gasped.
"He smiled!"
Kumar laughed.
"I think he likes you."
Deepak puffed out his chest proudly.
"I like him too."
Meanwhile...
On the second floor of the mansion...
Sakshi stood before her mirror.
She frowned as she adjusted her bangles.
For several days...
She had been feeling unusually tired.
Even the smell of food made her uncomfortable.
Vaani knocked gently before entering.
"Sakshi?"
"You missed breakfast."
Sakshi forced a smile.
"I'm just tired."
Vaani walked closer.
"You've been tired every day this week."
Sakshi looked away.
"It's probably nothing."
Dhuraya, who had just entered the room, studied her carefully.
Then a knowing smile spread across her face.
"Sakshi..."
"When was your last monthly cycle?"
Sakshi blinked.
Then counted silently in her head.
Her eyes widened.
She looked at Vaani.
Vaani smiled.
"I think..."
"You should visit the doctor."
That afternoon...
Raj accompanied his wife to the hospital.
After a short examination...
The doctor smiled.
"Congratulations."
"Mrs. Singhania..."
"You're expecting."
Raj's face lit up.
"Really?"
The doctor nodded.
"About one month."
Raj immediately reached for Sakshi's hand.
"We're going to have a baby."
Sakshi smiled.
But unlike Raj...
Her happiness was quieter.
More thoughtful.
When they returned home...
Raj could barely contain his excitement.
"Maa!"
"Mahesh!"
"Vaani!"
"Where is everyone?"
The family gathered in the living room.
Raj grinned from ear to ear.
"We have wonderful news."
Dhuraya smiled knowingly.
"I already guessed."
Raj laughed.
"Sakshi is pregnant."
The room filled with congratulations.
Mahesh hugged his younger brother.
"This is wonderful."
Vaani embraced Sakshi warmly.
"I'm so happy for you."
Even Kumar smiled.
"Congratulations, Bhabhi."
Pooja folded her hands respectfully.
"May God bless both mother and child."
Dhuraya raised her hands in prayer.
"May this baby arrive safely."
Only Vijay remained silent.
Watching.
Listening.
His eyes briefly moved toward Deepak.
Then to the tiny cradle where Vishu slept.
A strange feeling settled in his chest.
That evening...
The family gathered for dinner.
Mahesh looked around the table.
"Our home is growing."
He smiled.
"First Vishu..."
"And now another blessing."
Everyone nodded.
Everyone...
Except Sakshi.
She glanced toward Kumar.
The guard sat at the far end of the table, quietly eating after everyone else had been served.
Beside him...
Baby Vishu slept peacefully in a basket.
Guests.
Servants.
Workers.
They were all being treated like family.
Sakshi's expression hardened.
She leaned toward Raj.
"I don't like this."
Raj looked at her.
"What?"
"They're forgetting their place."
Raj frowned.
"They've done nothing wrong."
"They live under the same roof."
"They work honestly."
Sakshi lowered her voice.
"They're servants."
Raj's smile disappeared.
"They're human beings first."
Before Sakshi could reply...
Mahesh looked toward Kumar.
"Kumar."
"Tomorrow, take the day off."
"You've been working without rest."
Kumar shook his head.
"I'm fine, Saab."
Mahesh smiled.
"That wasn't a request."
"It was an order."
Everyone laughed softly.
Except Sakshi.
She looked down at her plate.
Every act of kindness Mahesh showed the workers irritated her.
In her heart...
A seed had begun to grow.
Not of hatred.
But of pride.
And pride...
When fed long enough...
Could become something much darker.
Upstairs that night...
Sakshi stood alone on the balcony.
She rested a hand on her stomach.
"My child..."
She whispered.
"You will never live like them."
"You will have the best of everything."
Behind her...
The lights in the guest quarters were still on.
Pooja was helping Kumar put baby Vishu to sleep.
Laughter drifted softly through the night.
Sakshi watched from a distance.
Then turned away.
She didn't know it yet...
But one day...
The child growing inside her...
Would fall in love with the very family she looked down on.
