BLOOD DOESN'T LIE A Story of Blood, Betrayal and Destiny By: walidah_hm Chapter 4 – A New Life, A New Goodbye Two years later... Morning sunlight spilled across Singhania Mansion. The kitchen was already busy. The sound of boiling tea mixed with the aroma of fresh chapati and curry leaves. Pooja stood beside the stove, rolling dough with quick hands. Across from her, Naina stirred a pot of dal before stopping to place a hand over her round belly. Pooja looked up immediately. "You should be resting." Naina smiled. "If I stay in my room, I'll get bored." "You've been saying that for months." "And you've been worrying about me for months." They both laughed. Pooja walked over and gently took the spoon from Naina. "Enough." "I'll finish this." Naina folded her arms. "You always treat me like I'm made of glass." Pooja smiled. "No." "I treat you like my sister." For a moment... Neither woman spoke. Then Naina reached out and squeezed Pooja's hand. "Allah was kind to me." "He gave me a friend when I needed a sister." Pooja's eyes softened. "And He gave me one too." --- Outside the kitchen... Little Deepak, now two years old, chased a small red ball across the courtyard. His laughter echoed through the mansion. Mahesh was walking past when the ball rolled to his feet. Deepak looked up. "Saab..." Mahesh bent down, picked up the ball and smiled. "Here you go, champion." Deepak took it happily. "Thank you!" Mahesh gently patted his head before continuing towards the house. From the balcony... Aarohi, now two years old, clapped happily in Vaani's arms. Vaani smiled. "Look at you." "You want to play too?" Dhuraya laughed. "Our princess wants to do everything Deepak does." Vaani kissed Aarohi's cheek. "They'll grow up together." "I hope they always stay close." Far away... Vijay silently watched both children. One laughing in the courtyard. The other safe in her mother's arms. His chest tightened. "They should have switched places..." The thought haunted him every single day. --- Back inside the kitchen... Naina suddenly stopped smiling. Her hand gripped the edge of the counter. She took a slow breath. Pooja noticed immediately. "Naina?" Another sharp pain came. Naina closed her eyes. "I think..." She inhaled deeply. "It's starting." Pooja dropped the rolling pin. "What?" "The baby..." "My pains have started." Within seconds... Another pain hit harder. Naina cried out softly. Pooja caught her before she could fall. "Naina!" Her voice echoed through the kitchen. "Kumar!" "Kumar!" Footsteps thundered through the hallway. Kumar ran inside. His face turned pale the moment he saw his wife. "Naina!" She forced a weak smile. "I think..." "Our baby is coming." Kumar's hands began shaking. "What do I do?" Pooja spoke quickly. "Don't panic!" "Go call Vijay!" "I'll stay with her." Kumar ran as fast as he could. --- The shouting reached the main hall. Mahesh immediately stood. "What happened?" Vijay rushed inside. "Saab!" "Naina is in labour!" Without hesitation... Mahesh put down the files in his hand. "Prepare the car." "Now." Raj hurried outside. "I'll help." Vaani came running downstairs. "Naina!" She entered the kitchen and found Pooja supporting her. Vaani gently held Naina's hand. "Don't be afraid." "We'll get you to the hospital." Dhuraya arrived moments later. She placed her hand gently on Naina's head. "Bhagwan will protect you." "You'll come home safely with your child." Naina smiled weakly. "Insha Allah..." Just then... Slow footsteps echoed from the staircase. Sakshi appeared. She looked around at everyone rushing from one place to another. Her eyebrows knitted together. "What's happening?" Raj answered quickly. "Naina is in labour." Sakshi blinked. "...And?" Silence. Everyone looked at her. She folded her arms. "She's just a servant." "Why is everyone behaving as if someone from the family is giving birth?" The room became painfully quiet. Pooja stared at her in disbelief. Kumar lowered his eyes. Mahesh slowly turned towards Sakshi. His face was calm... But his voice wasn't. "Sakshi." She looked at him. "Never say that again." She frowned. "I only said the truth." Mahesh stepped closer. "No." "You forgot something." "A person's worth is never measured by money." "Anyone who lives under this roof is our responsibility." Dhuraya shook her head sadly. "Sakshi..." "Wealth can build a mansion." "But only kindness builds a family." Sakshi rolled her eyes. "You're all making too much fuss." Without another word... She turned and walked upstairs. Vaani sighed quietly. "This isn't the time." Mahesh nodded. "Let's go." --- Outside... Vijay had already brought the car to the entrance. Kumar carefully lifted Naina into the back seat. She cried out in pain. Pooja climbed in beside her immediately. "I'm coming too." Naina grabbed her hand tightly. "Don't leave me." "I won't." Raj closed the car door. Mahesh looked at Vijay. "Drive carefully." "And bring both mother and baby home safely." Vijay nodded. "Yes, Saab." The car sped out of the mansion. --- Mumbai City Hospital... Doctors and nurses rushed towards the entrance with a stretcher. "Move aside!" "Labour patient!" Naina was wheeled through the hallway. Kumar tried to follow. A nurse stopped him. "You'll have to wait outside." The labour room doors closed. Kumar stood frozen. Pooja gently placed a hand on his shoulder. "She'll be alright." Kumar looked at the closed doors. "I've never been this scared." Pooja smiled through her own worry. "Naina is strong." "She'll come back." Neither of them noticed... A doctor walking quickly towards the labour room with a serious expression. The doors opened. He disappeared inside. Then... The doors shut again. A red light above the labour room switched on. Kumar clasped his trembling hands together. "Ya Allah..." "Please..." "Bring my wife back to me." To Be Continued... 🩸✨
