Episode 10: Act

Ava is already done with her breakfast, she's also done fixing herself for today's class. That's why she doesn't understand why Lucas is in their house again.

    "Uhm, our breakfast time is already done. Why are you here?"

    "I know, I'm here to accompany you to your school."

    "I don't think that's necessary. I can help myself."

    "Well, you need to. Specially when that Amanda is always around you. I'm at ease knowing there's someone who can protect you." Her mom said these as soon as she enters the living room. 

    "But mom, he isn't a bodyguard. And I don't need one."

    "Then I'll volunteer to be your bodyguard." Lucas stands up and look at her. She also looks at him in disbelief.

    "You don't have to, you know."

    "But I want to. And I won't take no for an answer."

    "Okay, enough you two. Here's your bag Ava, I prepared your lunch since I know how you hate your school lunch. Leave now, 'cause you'll be getting late."

Ava sighed. She's not scared of her mom, alright. It's just that what her mom wants, she always give into it. 

    "Okay mom, I gotta go now."

    "Oh! Lucas, come here early every morning so you can have breakfast with us."

    "Yes, Aunt Lila. I will!"

    "Don't tell me you're going to do this everyday?" Ava asks Lucas, they're currently leaning on the guys car in the school's parking lot, waiting for the bell ring.

    "Then I won't tell." Lucas answered with a smile.

    "Don't be silly. We know that you have work." They started walking up to the school quadrangle.

    "That's not a problem.  I'm the BOSS, remember?" Lucas winked at her. Ava just rolled her eyes.

    "Whatever... and don't do that again, it gives me chills."

    "Oh! I forgot. I got you something. Wait for me here, I'll just get it in the car." 

But the moment Lucas leaves, Amanda just arrived in front of her.

    "You wouldn't stop flirting with MY boyfriend, do you?"

    "What the hell is this all about now Amanda?"

    "Well, someone saw the two of you yesterday at the mall? ARE YOU SECRETLY DATING BEHIND MY BACK?"

    "Looks like you see your own ghost. Let me remind you Amanda, the cheating that Tyler did to me? He can also do that to you. Just because you got him, doesn't mean he's gonna stay with you forever. You will never know the consequences of what you've done until you just felt it."

    "I'm not stupid like you. So why do you think Tyler would still follow you around?"

    "Why don't you ask yourself?"

    "Hey! What's happening here?" Lucas is somewhat annoyed now. He just left Ava alone then he will see this mean girls picking up a fight. Amanda is gaping at Lucas. 

    "Don't interfere. I got this." Ava told him. He stays behind.

    "Hi, well... uhm, we're just telling Ava to stop picking up a fight. Well, Ava... who's he?" Amanda flirtatiously looked at Lucas, which made Ava rolled her eyes again. Here we go again, the flirt is in it again.

    "Why? You like him?"

    "Don't get me wrong Ava, I know she'll be just your flavor of the month... just like what you did to Tyler." Ava shot her a glare. What are the lies she's telling? Oh my god! She's turning the tables upside down.

    "Look Amanda, don't tie my level with you. Like what I've said, you're a b***h, which means, a female dog, who just accepts different breed from men. Tyler is my first boyfriend, and nothing has ever happened to us. How about you? How many guys you've slept with?"

    "You don't care if I sleep with anyone. Hey Mr.! Don't believe Ava. Because she's an all-time flirt and a liar."

    Lucas answered. "Well, I've known her for years." Amanda looked dumbfounded. Sure it was a lie. Because Lucas still didn't know how's Ava for the past years.

    "Well, he's Lucas Lincoln. The President of Lincoln enterprises. I'm sure you've seen him on news." Ava added.

    One of the mean girls from Amanda's side talk, "That guy is a bachelor right? He's in his 30's yet single 'cause he's still waiting for someone. I have watched that interview. He's the King in business industry."

    Amanda and the other girls looked so shocked. But Ava can still see the perseverance of Amanda to get Lucas' attention. Well, might as well drop the bomb.

    "And I am that girl. I'll introduce him again. He's Lucas Lincoln, my husband."

    "Liar!" Amanda shouted.

    "Awwww, you really don't like it when I get ahead of you. Want a proof?" Ava looks at Lucas whose is still shocked. "Hey hon, can you lean down a little? I can't reach you."

    "What?"

    "Do what I say, please?" Then Ava gave him the the cutest look from her.

    "Uhm, okay." Lucas leans down to reach Ava's height. To his shock, Ava reach his nape, holds him close and starts kissing him. He could feel the movement of her lips though. But that kiss doesn't last long. Ava looked at Amanda, feeling triumphant. The latter marched away, feeling defeated.

       Amanda's pissed off face was priceless. Ava looked at Lucas.

    "Ehem! Well... I have to go to class now."

    "Wait, wear this first." Lucas puts a silver bracelet around her wrist. "Next time, if you're going to pull that act, tell me first."

    "That's not an act. See for yourself what was that for."

Ava left Lucas still wondering on what happened. He feels lucky though, he doesn't need to push Ava to be sweet to him 'cause she has her own way of showing it.
