Chapter 4:Into His World

334 Words
Aria stared at the folder on her table for what felt like hours. She knew accepting Damien Voss’s offer was risky. Everything about him was a warning sign—the rumors, the secrets, the fear people had whenever his name was mentioned. A part of her wanted to walk away and never look back. But another part of her was curious. Why had a man as powerful as Damien chosen her? The next day, after a restless night of thinking, Aria made her decision. She arrived at the Voss Enterprises building, standing in front of the tallest skyscraper in the city. The glass walls reflected the bright sunlight, but the atmosphere around the building felt serious and intimidating. As she stepped inside, everyone seemed to know exactly who she was. Whispers followed her. “Isn’t that the girl who came with Mr. Voss?” “What could someone like him want with her?” Aria ignored the comments and continued walking. She reminded herself that she was there for a job, nothing more. When the elevator doors opened on the highest floor, she found Damien waiting. “You came,” he said. “You sounded like I didn’t have a choice,” Aria replied. For the first time, she noticed a slight change in his expression. Almost like he respected her confidence. “Most people are afraid to stand in front of me,” Damien said. “I’m not most people.” Her response surprised him. Damien had spent years surrounded by people who either feared him or wanted something from him. But Aria was different. She challenged him without trying to impress him. He led her through the private offices of Voss Enterprises and introduced her to a world she had only seen in movies—luxury, power, and secrets hidden behind expensive walls. But beneath the success was something darker. As Aria entered Damien’s world, she realized one thing: The closer she got to him, the harder it would become to leave.
