I woke up earlier than usual, too excited to start my new Job. This is my first time being a secretary to a CEO and I was ready to impress. Taking a shower and dressing in a green knee length skirt and green floral blouse, I proceeded to put on some makeup and tie my hair in a ponytail. Walking to my room door, I wear the pencil hills Mia gifted me yesterday as a congratulatory present, God I love that girl. Picking my black handbag, I put my necessities which of course include my mini makeup kits, a tampon, a face towel, a pack of wipes and a mirror. I have to be prepared for the worst. I walked out of the house, greeting Michael on my way to the front door and hailing a taxi. Good thing I lived close to the expressway. I arrived at the company and walked to the direction board. Noting that the CEO’s office is on the last floor, I walked to the elevator, got in and pressed the last floor. I got out of the elevator after it stopped, walked around the floor and noticed it was empty. No other staff works here, I didn't even see a secretary’s office or table. Is this a joke? I walked back to the elevator, going to the floor below the CEO’s floor I find staffs members everywhere around. Walking to a table I saw a dashing looking young man and I asked why the CEO's floor is empty. “You must be the new secretary, hi I'm Josh and yeah it's always empty, that's how it has been since I started working here. This is a joke right? “I'm sorry, where do his secretary sit” I ask Josh again. He pointed to an empty table at the entrance of the first office and said “they sir there, he passes information through mails or office phones”. How am I even his secretary when I'm not on the same floor as him? So much for being excited, I thought as I walked to my table to get settled in. “Everyone we have a newbie in our midst and as we all know she is the new secretary, let's welcome her and hope she stays longer than the rest” I heard Josh announce and just like that i became the center of attraction. A lot of people welcomed me warmly while some did it cold-heartedly, mostly the women though. I wonder why women don't support women. “She feels pretty right now, let's wait till he calls her up” I heard a lady say “If only she knows he hates makeup” the second lady said and they all laughed. “Hush now ladies let's not be mean” Josh said dispersing them He walked up to me and gave me a warm smile. “The CEO would arrive any minute from now and I want you to be in your best behavior when you go there. Don't let anything he say get to you okay. He can be really mean” he said and I smiled back How mean can the CEO be that everyone is talking about it . “What's the longest period his secretary has lasted?” I asked wanting to be prepared for what I'll face “ One week” he responded making me surprised. One week?? Just how rude is this man, I thought. I got fully settled and got bored so I went through old company mails. “Akira the CEO is in his office, go introduce yourself so you can start your work” Josh informed me. Taking a deep breath I walked to the elevator dreading what I'll face when I e it it. Walking to the CEO's office, I knock twice on the door then waited for response which I didn't get after 5 minutes . I knocked again and waited for another 3 minutes before getting a “come in”. Walking into the office, I stand in front of the CEO who didn't even raise his head to see who came in. Remembering what I was told about him before coming here, I take deep breaths to calm my nerves. Reading his name from his name tag on his table I prepare myself to make the sentence that would determine if I remain in the company or I get fired after a week just like the others. “Good morning Mr Walker” I said gathering all the boldness I had. He still didn't lift his head, what is he reading that he isn't even concerned about who is standing in his office? Wait why does his name sound familiar? Whatever, I probably saw it on the approval letter I was sent. Deciding to try my luck again, I make my second sentence “i am Akira Payton, your newly appointed secretary and would like to know what you would want me to do today” finally he raised his head. Oh Lord! This can't be. I'm probably seeing things right? Looking at the CEO, memories from that night flashed before me again and I felt like the ground should swallow me up. “H ello princess,” he said with a smirk on his face.
