After hours of going through everything, we still couldn’t find where the damn money went. We went through every possible receipt and payment. It was driving me insane, and I was starting to feel as if the head of the council suspected I had taken the money. This was going to be a huge problem. If my people thought that I was stealing the money, even just suspected, I would never get their trust back. Once trust is broken … You never got it back.
