The shadow on the horizon grew larger.
James stared at it, his heart pounding. The new reality was supposed to be free. Peaceful. A place where the endless cycle of creation and destruction had finally ended.
But the shadow was real. And it was coming closer.
Elena moved beside him. "What is it?"
"I don't know." James's voice was heavy. "But it's moving toward us."
Serena appeared on his other side. "We need to prepare. Whatever it is, it's not friendly."
"How do you know?" Freya asked.
"Because nothing friendly comes from the void." Serena's voice was hard. "We've learned that lesson."
James turned to his team. "We're going to investigate. We're going to find out what that shadow is and what it wants."
"And if it's hostile?" Olivia asked.
"Then we fight." James's voice was cold.
