Rey's Heart

CHAPTER 17

"You can't use him as your target practice, you just can't Rey!" Renix paced back and forth around Ellen's house the following day, everyone at their own position, silent.

"What other choice do I have Renix?" Rey asked her.

"You can learn, you can try and master them." Renix shouted.

"You are always good at everything you do Rey." She added.

"Not in this earth." Rey shook her head.

"It's my choice Renix." Eyken took his turn, he stood right where Halsey sat.

"It's a bad choice, what if I can't heal you?" Renix glared at him.

"You can and you can always take me to the med bay." Eyken sighed and as Rey's face fell, her eyes on the carpeted floor Renix stopped walked to her and knelt beside her.

"You are afraid too." Renix said softly and Rey lifted her head up.

"I am and it's killing me but..."

"It's okay, just be careful, alright." Renix stood up.

"And them?"

Rey turned to her friends.

"We can leave." Halsey offered watching Rey stand up.

"No, Eyken will shield them." Rey said.

"Shield us?" They all asked.

"Eyken." Rey faced him and then he stretched out his hands for a moment it was like as if a light portal had opened and then in an instant it closed, shielding the humans.

"You guys can still hear us, right?" Eli asked.

"Yes, we can." Renix answered him.

"You two ready?" She turned to her cousin and Eyken.

"Lets do it," Eyken smiled standing a little further from Rey but she walked to him, held him on his cheeks.

"I love you, don't die on me alright and if the pain is to much, communicate."

"I love you too, I promise I won't die."

He said back and she kissed him softly then let go and then she took a few steps back.

"Wow," In a quite voice, she heard Eli gasp in amusement at the corner of her eye she saw him smile at her, a genuine smile and she smiled back.

Rey closed her eyes, with one thing in mind, she allowed herself to see it, the fire blazing right inside her head and then she opened them, she could tell that they were different, that they had changed, the energy flowing inside her was enough confirmation.

"You'll tell me if I hurt you won't you?"

She saw right through Eyken as she allowed the fire to blaze through her hands.

"I will, do it, now!" With one single shot, she blasted him with her fire, it was only until she realized the effect it had had on him as he burned up that she stopped, she let herself cool down and then she reduced the heat on him with her hands at the same time seeing it all in mind, she let her own energy be consumed by it, taking it away from him at the same time and when it stopped he fell on the floor.

"Eyken." She run to him and knelt beside him, his clothes were torn, he had blisters all over and just like she had mentioned earlier on, he wasn't healing, he didn't have the same genes as her and then she saw Renix kneel beside him on the other side.

"I'll be okay." He winced in pain, with one of his hands stretched out, he undid the shield he had put on the humans.

"Is there something we can do?" Ellen asked, everyone was afraid as it was but she was strong enough, strong enough to ask questions.

"No," Rey answered simply, watching her cousin as she did what she did best, her hands going over every wound and although it was ceasing it was not disappearing as it should have and it scared them both.

"What's wrong?" Rey panicked once she saw Renix stop.

"It's not working, I mean it is but not the way it should, the atmospheric scene in this earth is messing that up." She explained trying once more.

"Am so sorry," Rey held one of his hands close to her.

"It was my choice." He flinched and they saw right through each other's eyes.

"Did you know the damage I would do to you?"

"Yes."

"Did you know how much it would hurt, the kind of pain I would inflict on you?"

"I had an idea."

"What's going on with them?" Haley who stood besides Renix asked, they could see the sudden silence between Rey and Eyken.

"They are talking, mind talking." Renix answered her.

"Then why?"

"You need to be prepared my love and am sure you've seen to what extent a single blast on anyone can do."

"I cannot lose you, we still need to get married."

"I know that Rey, but maybe love is something we both have to sacrifice."

"No my love, let that love save you, us."

"I am trying to be strong."

"I know and am right here with you."

"I want to close my eyes."

"Do you promise that you will wake up."

"I do, I love you, okay?"

"I know and I love you too."

Rey watched closely as Eyken closed his eyes.

"His heart rate is not good." Renix stated, Rey didn't need a confirmation of exactly what she meant because she knew she could see it for herself.

"We need to take him to the med bay." Rey stood up.

"Halsey, Eli." She guested to them for help.

"Be careful." She said, he was heavier than he looked so Ellen and Renix helped get him out of the house, once they were out Rey helped close the door as Haley scanned their environment.

Getting to the ship did not take them long, lucky for them no one was around but Rey knew very well that they were being watched, there had been someone following their every move that morning.

"Intruders! Intruders! Intruders!" The ship's A.I echoed all over.

"Okay, wow." Ellen whispered.

"They are with me." Rey announced.

"My apologies princess."

"Lord Eyken is hurt, I need you to fix him Zyna." Renix said as they lay him on a bedlike high chair, they all watched the A.I scan him in silence, all A.I's in Octus Nova had their own names, it was easier when it came to communicating them and one of the abilities they all possessed was the healing abilities.

"He took quite some fire in him, but he will be alright. He needs to get some rest."

Zyna announced.

"Thank you Z." Renix managed a smile.

"Lets go." She walked the humans out of the pod.

"Princess Rey."

"Zyna,"

"He will be alright."

"Am hoping so," She watched his blisters disappear and although that was a good sign she was worried, after all, everything that had happened to him was her fault.

"Take care of him, okay?"

She kissed his forehead.

"I will princess Rey."

"So like this is next generation of technology." Eli said. Everyone had their position at the cockpit. The ship had enough chairs to host upto ten people.

"Tell me about it. I could live here." Ellen scanned the place.

"Everything is a dream in here."

"Will Eyken be alright?" Halsey asked Renix.

"He will be." Renix answered her.

"And Rey?" Eli asked and with that question Rey emerged taking the empty sit next to Renix.

"I will be fine." She said to him.

"That's good." He smiled at her.

"So? How do you think you did?" Haley turned Rey.

"If that's how much damage I can cause with my powers then am not sure I want to use them." She said simply.

"Trust yourself." Renix said a few moments later as they all engaged Rey found herself at the med bay once again, Eyken was finally all healed up but he hadn't woken up yet.

"You two look good together." Eli walked inside.

"Thank you."

"Was I ever imagining things before he came, about us?"

"Eli."

"Tell me please." He begged and she looked into his eyes.

"No but there is a reason you held her hand when everything was happening back at the house. You were wondering what would happen if the roles were reversed but with you and her. You still love her and she feels the same way."

She said, she didn't have to have to beat around the bush, she didn't have to go all the way because they both knew who she meant. Haley.

"But I like you too. I care about you."

"I know you do and maybe I do too, but what you two have isn't something you should just give up, let that love save you." She said to him but as they both stared at each other, Rey's expression changed.

"What's wrong?" Eli asked her.

"Z keep Eyken safe." Rey said as she walked out, Eli following behind her.

"We have some uninvited guests."

"You forgot to activate the vanishing mechanism Rey." Renix said as she came into sight.

"So I've seen, who is it?" Rey asked her.

"Let's see." Renix hit a button just away from the cockpit.

The sight of the two humans didn't even shock Rey, she had seen their faces before, just few days into her stay on the human earth. They were familiar because there were two people, two sisters in there with their faces.

"Mom, dad." Haley and Halsey gasped.

In a white plain dress, black flat shoes Mrs D stood next to her husband who had on a brown suit and black shoes.

"What are they doing here?" Renix glared at them on the screen right ahead.

"We need to talk!" Mrs D said from outside.

A desperate statement or not, Rey knew very well what it meant. It was time!
