The work environment at the lab became toxic, so I stopped going there. I came across an undiscovered lab on one of the sublevels and made it mine. On the days I wasn’t working there, I portaled to Thuban, and helped my friends by hunting and then preparing the game I’d brought down.
Some meals I brought back to Eden with me, and I’d ask Zack Franklin—my only friend on Nibiru—to come to my quarters for dinner.
“This is delicious, Jake.” He brought a napkin to his mouth and patted his lips.
“Thank you. It’s kind of you to say so.”
“Well, I just tell it like it is.”
“Mmm.”
