Edgar opened his eyes at dawn and could not find Daphne on the bed beside him. He opened his eyes wide and jumped off the bed, ignoring his pain, and headed outside the room, thinking she had left.
He returned to the room, grabbed his shorts, and dashed into the woods to bring her back, but when he heard a humming sound outside, he ran out.
“Daphne”
Daphne was surprised to hear him call her by name for the first time in as long as she could remember, and he grabbed her shoulders, revealing a tense expression in his eyes.
"What happened?
Daphne was taken aback and dropped the fruits in her hands; relieved to see she was fine, Edgar let go of her and took a step back.
"Edgar?" Daphne called out, concerned about his strange behaviour, and picked up the fruits from the floor.
