Night settled over the palace without ceremony. The bustle of the day faded into distant echoes until only the quiet remained. Moonlight slipped through the tall windows of their chambers, silvering the floor and softening every edge of the room. Selene stood beside Camille's crib, smoothing the tiny blanket one last time.
