When they got up in the morning they showered together. Sawyer held her close and she rested her head on his chest as they stood underneath the never-ending stream of hot water. She knew she was crying, but there was no way to tell as the tears blended with the water of the shower. By the time she had fallen asleep in his arms the previous night his body had cooled to a normal temperature. Now, she noted, his skin was warmer again. It frightened her to think what would happen if he got any worse now. She looked at him for reassurance, but he just shook his head and looked away. They dressed in silence, and finally the only thing left to do was go to the police station.
